Niantic has done events for Halloween and Thanksgiving, so it would make sense that the company does one for perhaps the biggest holiday of the year. It seems they’re preparing to do just that with a ton of Christmas-related assets stored away inside the latest version of Pokemon GO.
Buried away are gift assets ranked from bronze to gold and with “special,” “great,” and “ultra” variants. A Christmas-colored shop icon also exists, alongside some sort of “HasHolidayItems” attribute in the APK’s metadata, a hint that some wild Pokemon may be carrying random gifts.
We’re less than a week away from Christmas, so Niantic will probably want to get this stuff going before the weekend is over. Stay tuned.
