Samsung issues another update for Galaxy S7 Nougat beta users

0

Another update for those o the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge’s Nougat beta has arrived. This one takes us to build ZPLH and clocks in at 280MB.

there doesn’t seem to be a whole ton of meaningful changes, but there are a few interesting bits to talk about. For starters, Samsung has removed the “Samsung Experience” version number that previously appeared in the settings menu.

Samsung Experience is what the company was rumored to be calling their new user experience. It would have replaced the TouchWiz moniker which Samsung used long ago but hasn’t actually acknowledged in a long time. The company could very well revert to not naming their user experience and instead may only use it for internal use. That said, a recent trademark filing in Europe suggests they’re still exploring the usage of it. In any case, it’s just a name so we won’t be sad either way.

Samsung also notes they’ve removed the Samsung Notes app. (See what we did?) This doesn’t seem to be a significant development as the app is now available at the Samsung Apps Store, so perhaps they’re just doing some bloatware cleanup. Lastly, bug fixes: always love those, right? Hit Settings > Software Update > Software Manual Download for the goods if you’re in the beta program.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.
