First Google TV to be at Android Only in Stockholm Late September

10

If you’re looking forward to Google TV, you might want to circle September 29th on your calendar? The Android Only developers conference is going on in Stockholm, Sweden that day and according to one of the conference organizers, the world’s first Google TV will be on hand for everyone to marvel at. It’s most probably going to be the Sony-built TV we’ve been hearing about for a long time, now, with the necessary hardware and software for Google TV built into the unit. While we’ve already seen Google TV in action at I/O – and while there might not be anything to gawk at with the TV itself – it’ll be interesting to see how far development on the software side has come since we’ve seen the platform unveiled late May. You guys looking out as hard as we are?

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. I think they should get this thing out ASAP before the new AppleTV arrives and everyone thinks Apple invented TV also (since the first one never took off and no one really knows about it). Although, Apple does create market demand for things, so maybe being second isn’t always a bad thing. Well, eitherway they should get googleTV out so I can give them my money.

  2. I have a beast of a flat panel TV already. I’m looking hard to see when Logitech will finally announce a launch date for their set-top box. Stop playing with my emotions and just spill the beans already.

  3. I agree with mmark27, they need to hurry up with this crap. Don’t want Apple fanboys to conitnue to say they did everything first. AppleTV currently sucks but it may not always be that way.

  4. Any new news about a Tivo (particularly Tivo Premier) and a googleTV friendship??

    :/

I tried hard to convince a loved one to WAIT for GoogleTV but he loves his Tivo more than a mouse does cheese and couldn’t resist the upgrade to premier.

ps YES i searched Google and checked through forums.. no real evidence, just weak and vague speculation.

Phandroid: Blog about this. Go. Love you.

That comment about people thinking Apple invented TV made me laugh, thanks. It’s painfully true. =P

  6. I have a nice LCD tv, I have a nice Linux HTPC, when can we get this as something to install on the htpc. I would even run it in an emulator, I just rather not buy yet another box.

  7. @steve

as soon as the software gets leaked/the box is released and those fantastic software smarties get to work!

assuming its even possible or even legal..

    +1

  9. Appel can “Invent,” all that they want, but it takes someone like a Google to get it right!

  10. I want to see the set top box. I was really hoping for that in time for Christmas.
