Android 12 begins rolling out to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3

With the Galaxy S21 lineup out of the way, Samsung set its sights on its 2021 foldable lineup as the next devices to receive the One UI 4 update. This is based on Android 12 and includes plenty of new features ranging from more privacy controls to customization options that we have been wanting for years. Following a successful beta program that saw the release of four total beta updates, the day has finally arrived.

According to SamMobile, Samsung has started rolling out the One UI 4 update to owners of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3. The update carries a version number of F711BXXU2BUKM for the Z Flip 3, while also including the December 2021 Android Security Patch.

Unfortunately, there is a bit of a catch, as the update does not seem to be rolling out globally just yet. With the Z Fold 3, the update is limited to those in Samsung’s home country of South Korea, while the Flip 3 seems to only be receiving the update in Serbia. We expect this to change in the coming weeks, as Samsung’s update roadmap reveals that Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 owners everywhere should receive the update before the clock ticks over into 2022.

This also comes as Samsung pushes yet another beta update to owners of the Galaxy Note 20, one of the major devices to get the final version sometime in January. Samsung is putting on a clinic, showing other phone makers how to bring the latest version of Android to its devices following Google’s release. Granted, it’s been a couple of months since we saw Android 12 come to Pixel devices, but it’s a far cry from the days where Samsung was at the back of the pack with software releases.

Now that One UI 4 is actually rolling out, it’s only a matter of time for it to land on your 2021 foldable phone. And if you own an older Galaxy phone, you can rest easy knowing that a major software update is in the pipeline and coming around the corner.
