Verizon pushes surprise update to the LG Velvet but it’s not exciting

0

One of the biggest news stories of the year came courtesy of LG, as the company announced that it was exiting the smartphone business. LG faithful have been wondering what was going to happen their existing phones, but the writing had been on the wall for sometime. The company failed to register profits in the segment for quite a long time, and chances are that you’ve already upgraded or moved to a different phone.

However, those who are clinging onto the LG Velvet and are subscribed to Verizon, there’s a little surprise for you today. Verizon has pushed a new update to the Velvet, bringing with it the November 2021 security patch. The software update carries a version number of RRVSG900VM20e, and is available as an OTA update now.

Unsurprisingly, there’s nothing really to write home about when it comes to the changelog:

The current software update provides the most up to date Android security patches on your device.

That’s it. The Velvet isn’t getting a surprise Android 12 update or anything, but instead is just getting a security update to patch any vulnerabilities. Plus, it’s a month late as it is, considering that we’re already seeing other phones updated with the December Security Patch.

Nevertheless, if you are still using your LG Velvet for some reason, head into the Settings app and check to see if the update has landed on your device yet.
