Google Wi-Fi assistant seems to be heading to non-Project Fi Nexus users

If you’ve been waiting for Wi-Fi Assistant to be made available for non-Project Fi Nexus users, wait no longer. It appears Google is now allowing those who aren’t on Project Fi in on the fun, as announced a few weeks ago.

In case you don’t know, Wi-Fi Assistant makes it easy to connect to open Wi-Fi networks in secure fashion when you’re out and about. The device will automatically connect you so you can go on using the internet without having to tax your limited data pool.

Once your phone has gotten the goods, head to the Settings menu on your phone, then head inside the “Google” menu, then “Networking.” There, you’ll be able to toggle an option that says “Use open Wi-Fi automatically.” Let us know if you’re seeing it on your nexus phones of choice.
