Use these IFTTT recipes to get Nest notifications on your Android Wear smartwatch

Now that many Android fans far and wide have began receiving their LG G Watch or Samsung Gear Live, it’s about time to put that wearable tech to good use. We’ve recently shown you that custom Android Wear watch faces are starting to show up in the Google Play Store and we’ve even shown you a tool to help you never forget your phone as you go about your daily routine. Now we have an Android Wear trick for Nest owners out there.

Just last week popular automation service IFTTT (If This Then That) announced support for both Nest products and Android Wear to the world, bringing plenty of new recipes for users to tinker with. Thanks to these new channels, Android Wear owners can now receive Nest Thermostat notifications directly on their wrist.

These IFTTT recipes only notify you when your Nest Thermostat is set to home or away, which can be particularly useful for determining if someone is at your house or not at your house when they should or shouldn’t be. Additionally, these status updates can be useful for tweaking and configuring your new smart thermostat to help you save on energy costs. To get started, check out the two recipes below:

  • Get notified when your Nest Thermostat is set to Home
  • Get notified when your Nest Thermostat Away
