One Lucky Soul Got a Logitech Revue for $50 With Erroneous Coupon Code

21

Some of you might want to check your inboxes for a 50% off coupon code from Logitech. A user on Reddit received one such code, and although Logitech said it wasn’t applicable to the Logitech Revue, he went ahead and tried it anyway – it worked. Since the device now retails for $99, he walked away having to pay nothing but $50 for a still-pretty-serviceable Google TV unit. Only time will tell if Logitech will end up correcting the mistake and if they’ll honor this guy’s order, but you should get your order in now just in case (the coupon code is unique to each user who receives one).

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. I did it too! At first it didn’t work, but then I added another product to my basket (Revue was first item), and tried again. Code was applied to Revue, and I removed the second product. Total price: $52.99 with tax.

    1. which product did you add? I can’t get it to work..

  2. I ordered a $100 Revue. I’ve been running it for a couple of days right alongside a Boxee box. When you compare the two side-by-side, you very quickly understand why Revues are being returned as fast as they are being sold.

Bottom line: Boxee can see my NAS drive and play just about any file type I’ve ever thrown at it. Revue can’t even see my NAS unless I run PlayOn and even then it can’t play most file types. It wouldn’t playback an .avi file that Boxee was able to play.

    1. I would revisit your review after the update hits in September to Android 3.1. I would imagine that the issue may be fixed or a developer will develop an app in the Market that will play files from a server. I considered the Boxee but for the cost and the web browser on the Revue I went with the Revue. Can’t wait to see what new functionality comes with the Honeycomb update!

    2. Playon doesn’t play anything. Playon is an on the fly media converter. It can convert to stream to your box almost anything. I’ve been using it for years and have never seen a codec it can”t get to my many types of streamers.

However, you should also check out Plex. It looks friggin’ fantastic and will ‘play’ 1080p. Playon only does SD 480p resolutions.

Plex isn’t a uPnP server though and does not broadcast. In order to reach your Plex server you have to have a specific application. The Android Tablet/Phone app looks and runs beautifully.

    3. You guys are making my point for me. Boxee works right out of the box.

I have a rooted Android phone and a rooted Android tablet. I’m not afraid of tearing into an Android device, but if I can’t get the Revue to stream a simple .avi file from a standard NAS drive, Joe/Jane Consumer aren’t even going to try to make this work. As they have proven, they’ll just pack it up and send it back. Sad to see such a half-baked product. Google is learning that “beta” might work for a website, but not for a home consumer entertainment hardware device…

    4. Consumers are NOT returning units at a greater rate than they are being sold I wish people would stop spreading that drivel. Logitech issued a clarifying statement that they were talking about retailers returning unsold units back to Logitech not consumers returning to retailers.

  3. I ordered my second Revue for $49.99 just now. Bought my first one last week for $99. I just bought two for 50% less than the original price for one at $299.99. I can’t wait!

    1. any way to get this coupon through signing up for something

  4. Do these Logitech Revue’s from Logitech come with the keyboard? That alone would be worth the 99 bucks.

    1. Yes they do. Plus the Android smartphone app works flawlessly!

      1. Yes it does, I LOVE the Android app. I can be upstairs with my GTV downstairs and I can turn my WHOLE system on/off if I fall asleep upstairs without leaving my bed. It’s also fun to mess with my brother when he’s using the TV, I change the channel, turn the volume up…it’s a GREAT app.

  5. would love to paypal someone a few bucks for their code, or just paypal someone 60 for a new box.

  6. i registered a product hoping to kickstart/enroll me in the same promotion that was going on and got a 20% off coupon instead, but even though its not listed as excluded, the 20% coupon wont work

  7. I tried to find a revue in stock and couldn’t find a single one.

  8. Actually this was not an error the coupon says 50% off any single item from the logitech website.I just received my $49.99 logitech Revue with free shipping

    1. The small print in the bottom of my email states that the offer is not valid on the Logitech Revue. Nevertheless, I was able to use the coupon and get the $49.99 price. Now I can return the one I got at Best Buy a week ago!

  9. how can i get a coupon code, i would love to get this

    1. Call Logitech for a warranty repair. I have a Logitech Illuminated Keyboard which needed replaced because one of the keys fell off/snapped off. They said that they would process it right away, and because of the inconvenience, a 50% off code was offered to me. It is good for 12 months past the activation date, and to call in with my repair reference # to have it activated whenever I am ready to buy (to avoid a 12-month window, or losing the coupon code).

      I hope this helps.

  10. Got my code, but the Logitech website is pretty much useless right now. Also, take a look at the fine print from the email “Savings apply to, and are only available on, items displayed on Logitech.com. Offer not valid on Logitech Revue or in addition to any other discount or offer.” I tried to apply my code but it wont take it :(

  11. trying to use my coupon code that I just received today and no combination of adding things to the cart allows me to get the Revue for $49… frustrating!
