Blurrycam of the Samsung YP-MB2? A Galaxy S Without the Phone Stuff

9

When everyone claimed Samsung was trying to be too much like Apple with the advent of the Galaxy S (similar UI design, hardware design, etc), they might’ve been called a name or two. Samsung’s not helping their case much with their latest personal media player – being called the Samsung Galaxy YP-MB2.

The device is basically the Galaxy S without the phone, which does sound a lot like what the iPod Touch is to the iPhone (also not helping their case is the iPad wannabe Samsung Galaxy Tab). We aren’t going to point too many fingers here, though, as that’s a drill that’s long been plunged into the ground. Instead, be sure to enjoy some good ole’ blurrycam shot of the device above.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. I love it. I would love to have a single device that could carry stuff for me for me to do in my down time, whether that be games, videos, NPR radio programs, and news feeds. It would be great if it could be a phone, but US wireless providers won’t offer a plan that allows me to do this at a price I like, and I’m not jumping on it until they do. I also don’t feel the need to ask Mr Jobs for permission to listen to content I already own, so an Android alternative to the Touch is something I would hop on.

  2. I’d get it if it had a front facing camera that the GSM US carriers saw fit to remove from the Galaxy S

  3. This device is made of pure WIN! Rooted Droid + this + Android Tablet = Heaven

  4. i would go for this if it was a reasonable price. to replace my old ipod classic i need a min of 64gb (closer to 80gb or more would be better). a touch costs £300 at that size in UK so it would need to undercut that and i would buy it! and that price would have to include the storage if it is micro SD based….

  5. @Jared

I’m thinking if we are in the US and want the front facing camera, just buy an unlocked Galaxy S. (just make sure it has the 3G bands for AT&T or T-mobile)

  6. Price?

  7. Samsung is literally trying to be apple with android. thats kinda weird but I like it.

  8. this is exactly what i have been waiting for! now the ipod touch will have some competition!

  9. ugh you guys!!!!! Samsung makes the guts for the iPhone! Who makes the A4 chip that’s in the iPhone 4, iPad, and soon to be released iTouch? Samsung!
