Alleged renders of a new Microsoft Band wearable show curved display

Microsoft could be close to launching the sequel to their original fitness band, which was simply called Microsoft Band. The second version has leaked online in new renders, and it shows a device that certainly looks more refined.

A key change being confirmed is that the device will now have a curved display so as to improve the ergonomics as it sits on your wrist. It also makes the band look a lot cooler, so there’s that.

According to information previously seen by Windows Central, the Band 2 will have the entire gamut of sensors you’d expect to find on one of these things:

  • Optical heart rate monitor
  • Accelerometer/Gyrometer
  • GPS
  • Microphone
  • Ambient Light Sensor
  • Galvanic Skin Response (GSR) sensors
  • UV sensor

It sounds like there won’t be much reason for owners of the original to upgrade once it makes its way out as these sensors were also featured in the original. It’ll also still be device agnostic, so it can be used no matter whether you use Android, iOS or Windows Phone. So if a curved display is important to you, you’ll want to wait for the Band 2. Otherwise, the original is still just as capable and can be had on Amazon for about $60 less than its original $200 price tag.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.
