LG begins teasing a 4.7 inch quad-core smartphone

25

LG’s expected to have a solid outing at IFA in Berlin next week, and they’ve started the excruciating, unbearable teasing. A new site has been set up to tease a smartphone that has a Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, a quad-core chipset said to be unrivaled in the current space of mobile computing.

The timing is notable because LG is rumored to be unleashing a very powerful device at their upcoming showing in Berlin at IFA. It’s the LG Optimus G and it’s said to be coming with a quad-core S4 processor by Qualcomm, 2GB of RAM, a 13 megapixel camera, and more.

We sure do believe they are teasing that device, but only time will tell what they’re really coming to market with. Regardless, it’s sure to be a beast based on knowledge of the processor alone. We’ll see if LG can win some market share back with this device when they head to Germany next week.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. Unless it ships with Jelly Bean it’s not going make a huge impact, the people have made their choices and their names are HTC and Samsung….

    1. +1 I agree. If it doesn’t ship with Jelly Bean I don’t want it. I’ll root the phone and install ROMs on it eventually but it could be months before that happens. In the mean time, I want my candy.

    2. HTC is weak sauce. Android needs more than Samsung on the high end.

      1. Samsung is def great, but HTC is by no means weak sauce.

        1. htc is DEFINITELY weak sauce on top of a weak steak…

          1. Lol ok, I think the gs3 is def the best android phone on most carriers, but the I think the Evo LTE is just as good if not better on sprint

      2. HTC is releasing a 5″ 1080 screen phone with 2 GB RAM and driven by Qualcomm’s amazing S4 Krait processor. Admittedly, HTC has lost some of their mojo but this new beast will bring it back.

        1. I do want to see this phone actually. I would consider a phablet running sense 4+ and of course jelly been. samsungs icons and user interface still looks and feels as cheap as the phones themselves.

        2. Yes yes this is a good development. But I’m also talking the marketing. You can get the GS3 at all major carriers. HTC still likes to have all these not-so -great variants instead of One to rule them all.

      3. weak sauce? They rocked the s4 dual first, secondly saying we need more samsung is like begging for rain in the flood…

  2. But if they came in hard they can gain an audience plus if they keep their os features and add-ons light it could be a done deal. LG is capable of being right up there with Samsung they produce practically the same stuff.

  3. so after watching the video i got a few things of great importance (i dont know the language but i heard):
    1) s4 snapdragon
    2) processor
    3) kaka (0:40 on video)

so i think this phone could be very nice because it has a fast dragon like processor that can deal with all your kaka…. that should bout sum up the video

    1. downvotes from people that don’t get the joke.

      1. u dont get it if u wrote this

  4. If It comes with Jelly Bean and with an HD screen on Verizon… I will be into checking it out.

  5. LG just needs to stick to making tv’s

  6. No more LG, after my dreadful O2X experience. My Optimus 2X is alive only thanks to CM7

    1. People said the same thing about Samsung after the Galaxy S

      1. Maybe… But starting from now I’ll buy only nexus devices (maybe they are not the best hardware, but how good to have the best hardware – O2X was the first double core – if you don’t have the software to manage it?)

  7. LG sucks. Ever hear a Jack in the Box drive up speaker that is blown? LG’s phone speaker must have been designed by the same company that make those.
Worst phone speaker I have ever had.

    1. and the amount of minutes I use per month on my phone? About… 5.

      1. their texting features are cool… I haven’t had a phone call in 3 days but I have sent/recieved over a hundred text messages already today.

  8. I keep hoping for LG to make a great device with clean functional software that is fully supported. It’s entirely possible; Samsung used to be the b*tch of the phone industry with their cheap crap, and look at them now…. still making some cheap crap yeah, but overall much more known for elite devices like the Galaxy S III. All it takes is the will to make it happen.

    1. Remember the Samsung Behold II? Oh they have come a long way….

  9. If this phone’s gonna reach about 700-800USD, then I will just prefer this phone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jufmgrc69qs

A quad-core w/ some good designs and a well-respectable spec without banging too much buck!
