ASUS publishes Transformer Pad 300 bootloader unlock tool

5

Sticking to their policy of playing nice with the Android developer community, ASUS has released the bootloader unlock tool for the Transformer Pad 300. The  utility picks up where the Transformer Prime left off, which was the first ASUS slate to receive and official unlock treatment. Despite the official nature of the tool, it still carries the caveat that deploying it on your Transformer Pad will void the warranty and take the device off the official update path. Head over to the source link below for the download and instructions.

  1. Drop price $100 please :)

    1. Price is probably already low enough as it is. Great tab for the price. Easily one of the best on the market.

  2. Got mine on Sunday. Too unlock or not to unlock. Hmm.

  3. I don’t understand why tablets are locked in the first place. They don’t lock down PCs. I can understand why carriers may want phones locked but why do the tablet makers care if we get root access or install another OS. PC’s already get admin access and many install other OS’s anyway but there is no warranty voided on PCs for doing so. Wish the tablet makers would get out of this ridiculous lockdown mentality. Apple started this, ugh.

  4. Yeah now if they could just spend some time fixing the stock browser bug on the Prime and making sure it receives all the updates the Pad 300 and the OG Transformer have gotten I’d be happy.
