HTC Lead for AT&T is a High-End Dual-Core Smartphone

21

Looking for another high-end HTC handset on AT&T? PocketNow has now gotten specs to go along with a picture of the HTC Lead leaked sometime last week. Right away it sounds like AT&T’s version of the Pyramid or Sensation. It has a 4.3 inch display (but it’s only WVGA compared to qHD), Qualcomm’s MSM8660 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 768MB of RAM and looks like – well – every HTC phone released in 2011. (Save for that weird speaker grill at the top. That thing looks gnarly.)

A 5 megapixel camera rounds the thing out but there is no front-facing camera, surprisingly, and there’s no word on whether or not this will come with HSPA+ radios. Sweet! We still don’t know which version of Android and Sense this one will come with, though, and a launch window has yet to be pegged. We could be in this one for the long haul.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1.  Every carrier deserves some dual-core, HTC goodness =)

    1. Verizon dual core smartphone with sense where are you?????

      1.  AMEN!!!

    2. So what about Verizon :/ Charging 50-100 bucks more for a phone with last year’s tech and an LTE radio(TBolt and Droid Charge.) Whatever, as long as they get the Galaxy S2 this summer, I’ll stick with them. Otherwise, Sprint, here I come.

  2. Looks nice… kind of weird why they left of the FFC though.

  3.  Thank god i sold my Atrix without a loss (though it is a good phone). You guys are sure this is an Android phone?

    1. Look at the screenie. 4 touch keys at the bottom. Its Android.

  4. Wow, been excited about the LG Thrill but now going to be keeping an eye on this. Hopefully this (or both) has LTE.

  5. Heard it was like sensation with a 4.5 inch screen though and 1.5 ghz.

    1. I believe that is the HTC Holiday. Not sure if they are the same phone or not.

  6.  I doubt this is going to AT&T, Most likely Verizon. It has the 8660 processor which is used for CDMA Phones.

  7.  and looks like – well – every HTC phone released in 2011….

Is the reason why i usually pay little attention to HTC’s offerings because they have some of the most mundane and boring designs to me. It disappoints me as I used to love HTC(eris/hero, Evo, HD7, Mytouch 4g, Aria, and G2)…Although, unrelated that red inspire looks great.

Come on HTC. Throw  your awesome specs onto some appealing hardware.

    1. funny, what phone do you call original?pretty much be there done that.htc even with same look beats everytrhing else and i mean everyting thats out there.if htc is this beautiful why change, everyone needs a facelift, but not my htc.

  8. C’mon!  I lover my Inspire, but want an FFC…  I was hoping the next big HTC on AT&T would have one…

  9.  SGS II beats this already.

  10. does anyone know if the bands are compatible, im still trying to decide between this and the samsung galaxy s 2. Hopefully the 26th samsung press confrnce is announcing the sgs2. Or i may cough up full price for this bad boy. Well the 26th is the day of my last final, so it must be lucky(or not).

  11. I wish I would of waited for this instead using my upgrade on the stupid ass Atrix. Three months later and we’re still waiting on the “bootloader solution” phuck Motorola!

  12.  PHONE IS AMAZING SO GLAD I’M WITH AT&T. I’m just mad that I went and got my Atrix 4G. now it feels like it’s getting old. just with could of hold on for a few more months to get a REAL HTC SENSE UI PHONE

  13.  This doesn’t seem that high end to me.  No front facing camera, 5 megapixel camera, not even 1 GB ?  Oh so ordinary.  Waiting for the true next gen of Android phones before I ditch my original Droid.

  14. I definitely think nowadays that for a phone to be considered a “high-end” smartphone, an HD display is mandatory. Just my .02.
