Nexus S 4G Launching this Week? Best Buy Seems to Be Confused

8

Although the Nexus S 4G is rumored to be out April 18th – that’s only a couple of short weeks from now – Best Buy’s latest activity is suggesting it could be here sooner than we think. Reports have flown in telling of Best Buy’s website showing varying statuses for the device.

At one point, you could add it to your shipping cart and have it shipped between May 1st and May 5th and asked users if they wanted to add the $10 premium data charge to their account. I witnessed this one myself. Hours later, the retailer reportedly showed the device as being available for shipping as early as tomorrow.

Now, it is just listed as coming soon. Either Best Buy’s just preparing for the launch of the pure Google Experience phone well in advance or they accidentally outed the Nexus S 4G’s true release window. We’ll see soon enough. [via Android Forums]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. Wow, regular price is $699. That’s a big jump from $529 for the GSM version.

    1. This is Best Buy, like Thunderbolt was suppose to be 750? but its 600 if you buy from Verizon.

    2. CDMA phones always tend to be more expensive than their GSM counterparts. There was the BB bold for Sprint that was $700 whilst the ATT version was only like $400

  2. $700 for a phone that was release in 2010… thanks but no thanks I was really hoping for ~$400 off contract considering galaxy S devices are nearing 1 year old and its the same damn hardware

  3. does anyone else have a Tmobile Nexus S that is still on 2.3.2?

    1. You can manually update it, it’s super easy. Google :manually update to 2.3.3

  4. Bestbuy was showing availability as early as tomorrow with express delivery a few minutes ago. It appears they have been updating the site so its constantly fluctuating.

  5. what a surprise–BestBuy uncertain of the Thunderbolt, i mean Nexus S release…hmm….this is surprising?
