RealPlayer for Android Updated with UI Overhaul

15

RealPlayer, a company that used to be engrained in the very fabric of the web when it came to playing back audio and video, has fallen a bit off the map lately. Their recently released Android app isn’t necessarily creating and big splashes, but they have taken the critique and criticism to heart and put out a pretty large-scale update to their Android service. The biggest facet of the update is an overhauled user interface “designed to make accessing and enjoying media more seamless.” Other enhancements:

  • A redesigned home screen
  • A widget allowing playback from the home screen
  • Enhanced graphics
  • A feature for videos and song removal
  • An improved way to select directories for music, videos and photos
  • Landscape mode for music playback
  • Music playback by directory folder
  • A quick way to hide video status bar
  • A selection for video aspect ratio
  • Removal of the roulette wheel
  • Support for music playlists playback

You can read even more about it over at the RealNetworks Blog, or dive right in by downloading the updated version of RealPlayer from the Android Market now.

  8. Not a patch on Music PlayerPro. Competition between music players is great for the consumer. Unfortunately this is far competition and the levels of Music PlayerPro, PowerAmp and Museek. They should be able to do better … c’mon
