Full User Guide for the Motorola Droid 2 Leaked, Might Launch With Android 2.2

12

It’s that time again. Verizon has a new device and people are thirsty for all of the tidbits they can get well ahead of launch. Not unlike the other Droid phones before it, the Motorola Droid 2’s full user guide has been leaked and is available for download (PDF). The guide is business as usual, but it does tip us off to a couple of new details that we hadn’t known before.

Namely, it appears that the “not-MOTOBLUR-but-looks-an-awful-lot-like-it” skin seen on the Droid X has been injected into the Droid 2. While nothing is official yet, we still have yet to see this device (in various forms) depict stock Android (that includes actual early shots of the device, dummy units for in-store displays, and this here user guide).

Secondly, Swype will certainly come preinstalled on the Droid 2 if their “Text entry” section is anything to go by. You can opt for this or the multitouch keyboard that everyone loves from the Droid X. Finally, it’s possible that this phone could ship with Android 2.2 as the guide clearly shows the newly-updated-for-FroYo search box.

Nothing is confirmed, but if the rumored August release date holds up to be true then we should most certainly be treated to some official details very soon. Download the user guide for your own enjoyment here, courtesy of Droid-Life.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. Yay Swype! I like the idea of having Swype available for quick text messages and the physical keyboard for longer emails.

Between voice input, swype, and the physical keyboard, this may be the best phone for text input yet.

We assume that, but if the rumors are to be believed, the skinless Droid is going to updated to 2.2 at the same time as the skinned Incredible and Droid X.

It’s really unfortunate, though, that there isn’t a phone with a new high-end processor with stock Android.
