More Samsung YP-MB2 (Galaxy S Media Player) Details Leaked, $250?

10

The Samsung YP-MB2 (Galaxy S without the phone) has been gaining steam in recent weeks in regards to information leaks, but no one’s complaining. Korean outlet DDaily says that the device will have a weaker camera than the Galaxy S (3MP) and will be 299,000 won ($250). So far, we know this much about the media player:

  • Android 2.1 With TouchWiz 3.0
  • 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird Processor
  • 4-inch Super AMOLED display
  • Digital compass
  • GPS
  • DMB
  • WiFi
  • Bluetooth 3.0
  • 3MP Camera
  • Android Market

One of the most important features to a media player – the internal storage capacity – has yet to be confirmed. Samsung’s stocked some of their Galaxy S phones with as much as 16GB of data, so I can’t see them offering this thing with anything less than that. 32GB and 64GB configurations are obviously the most desirable, but we’ll have to wait until even more details flow out over time.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  3. “with Touch Wiz 3.0 interface…”

Dude, heart-to-heart here Samsung: if you were good at designing mobile interfaces you would have been top of the market long ago with your worldwide volume and hardware. You’re not. Stop fucking with the software on these phones and I will buy your hardware. Love, user.

  4. INsano: it’s not that samsung is good at UI design but that google is much worse. *Everyone* is filling the gap with custom UI’s (except for Acer) until Google can come up with a well polished UI (hopefully gingerbread)

Have you even seen touchwiz 3.0 or are you one of those A-holes that assume touchwiz is horrible based on the Behold 2

  6. I think this thing would be great for me. I’m still waiting to get an android phone, since i want one with a physical keyboard. Like this I could get this thing, and be happy, and then get one of the 2ghz phones sometime next year.

  7. i thought it was confirmed earlier that this thing WASN’T running android.

  8. how about video-out? any word if it does it like it’s phone variant? if so, i sense an ipod touch killer right here.
