While most of the big guys in mobile have already released a variety of smart watches, HTC has been the odd one out. We’ve been wondering how long it would take the Taiwanese company to bring one to market, but according to Bloomberg’s latest report we won’t have to wait much longer — they say it’ll be shown off at the March 1st press event HTC scheduled in Barcelona.
According to the report, the smart watch will integrate Under Armour’s fitness service which would explain the partnership that was made between the two not too long ago. There aren’t many other details to be had about it at the moment, but considering how dangerously close we are to Mobile World Congress we wouldn’t be surprised to hear more soon.
The report also confirmed murmurings we’d already heard before — the HTC One M9 will be unveiled. The device, also known as the HTC Hima in the rumor mill, is said to be coming with a 20 megapixel rear camera and an HTC UltraPixel camera on the front (which previous rumors have suggested). Other HTC One M9 specs are rumored to look like the following list:
- Snapdragon 810 chipset with Adreno 430 GPU
- 3GB of RAM
- 5-inch 1080p display
- 2,840mAh battery
- Android 5.0 Lollipop with HTC Sense 7.0
We’ll have to wait for HTC’s big unveiling to see if that matches up, but either way we’re sure the device will look to compete with the best of them. Be sure to stay tuned as we’re bound to learn more about HTC’s plans ahead of the big day.
May 1st? Yeesh.
It is March 1st LOL
Why have they delayed the unveiling?
Date fixed lol, thanks gang! :)
That watch will have frontal dual speakers and Godzilla bezel. It doesn’t matter who made it, all of them are useless notification devices which made for people who lazy to check notifications by taking the phone out of pocket.
i dont have a smartwatch nor do i plan on getting one, but i do at times get a lot of annoying, not important notifications that would be easier to just swipe away on the wrist when im out at a bar.
Looks like my Asus Zenwatch, lol! Minus the speakers, of course. And laziness had nothing to do with anything here, it’s just so much easier and more discreet to check your wrist real quick and see if it’s anything you need to deal with now or if it can wait.
Its not lazy, its convenient. You know, the same convenience as having a Smartphone in the first place, but smaller, and easier to glance at then digging into your coat or pants to get.
Well this should be exciting. Let’s see if a 3rd time is the charm.
HTC…. Don’t let me down, y’all get this right, I’ll be owning the M9 and the smart watch.. it’s up to y’all to give the consumers something nice and right
Pumped on the M9. I bet it will be an M9 or an S6 in my pocket as my next phone.
Why… Why are they sticking with a 5in screen again? Bump it up to 5.2 at least and I’ll be in heaven
Yeah, cuz 5.2″ up from 5″ is a complete game changer /s
They should bump it up to Nexus 6 size 5.9″ Then at least it would be a competition.
Makes sense, and with HTC’s recent partnership with Under Armour, it’ll definitely be fitness oriented.
I hope this is true. Please get the camera correct..
Id say nothing is confirmed till HTC confirms it. Cant wait to see their SmartWatch offering.
I dunno, over the last month i was seduced away by the Nexus 6. Will be hard for HTC to get me back unless the size is comparable. Once you got 6-inch screen its hard to go back to 5.
5″ screen is fine, as long as the bezels don’t push it up to the same size as a 5.5″….. although I can forgive them some space for the boom sound speakers.
Size and camera quality will dictate whether I ditch my G3 for this. It was because of the camera I got the G3 instead of the M8 last year.
The first pictures of the HTC One (M9) have already been posted on the web. Images that confirm that HTC will resume in the major line design of the HTC One (M8).
