Custom recorded alarm sounds are coming to the Google Clock app

0

Pretty much all phones come with an alarm clock app that also comes bundled with a bunch of sounds that you can choose from. The problem with this is that sometimes, the sound you have chosen might sound the same as someone else’s, or it could have gotten to the point where you might actually be able to sleep through or ignore those sounds because you’ve gotten so used to it.

If you’re looking for something different, maybe a custom sound that you recorded yourself, then you might be interested to learn that in an upcoming update to the Google Clock app, it appears that Google is finally allowing users of the app to use sounds that users have recorded themselves.

This is according to a tweet by Mishaal Rahman who has reported that the feature is being pushed out via a server-side update, meaning that users don’t need to do anything to get the update.

That being said, Rahman does note that this feature could be exclusive to Pixel handset owners and those with the Google Recorder app installed. This means that if you don’t have a Pixel phone, you might not be able to use this feature with the Google Clock app. In any case, there are plenty of alarm apps out there that do support custom sounds.

Depending on your phone brand and model and the OS, your handset manufacturer could have also included a similar feature in the native alarm app, so this is more for users who might be using the Google Clock app as their primary alarm app.
