How to Add Emergency Information to your Android smartphone

With your personal health and safety, you can never be too careful! Accidents and incidents happen all the time. People fall ill suddenly and need personal help, either by ambulance services or passers-by. Having an emergency contact or important information may need to know about the person’s general health if they’re unconscious and unable to answer important medical questions. Since our smartphone is typically the device we carry with us all the time, that information can be made readily available from the lock screen.

In this guide, we will show how to add this emergency information to your Android devices. If your specific device isn’t listed below, sound off in the comments and we will try our best to update the list.

It’s worth noting, however, that some manufactors will have an ability to place this information as a note on your lockscreen or it can be accessed using the lockscreens emeregency button. Your devise may vary, so be sure to check to see where your information can be found!

Show emergency info from your lock screen on a Pixel smartphone

  1. Open your device’s Settings app.
  2. Tap “About Phone” then “Emergency Information.” If you don’t see “Emergency Information,” go back and tap Users & accounts Emergency information.
  3. Enter the info that you want to share.
  4. For medical info, tap Edit information. (If you don’t see “Edit information,” tap Info.)
  5. For emergency contacts, tap Add contact. (If you don’t see “Add contact,” tap Contacts.)
  6. To clear your info, tap More Clear all.

How to Set Up Emergency contacts on a Blackberry smartphone

Add owner info to your lock screen You can add your name, a personal message, or any other information that displays on your device when the screen is locked.

  • Swipe down from the top of the screen once using two fingers, or twice using one finger.
  • Tap > Security > Screen lock > tap > Lock screen message.
  • Type your name or the message you want to display on the lock screen and tap Save.

How to set up Emergency contacts on a Motorola smartphone

From the range of phones 4 and below (e.g. moto z4) 

  1. Go to Settings > Users & accounts.
  2. Touch Emergency information.
  3. Set up your information.
  4. To view this information, a first responder or another person would:
  5. Swipe up on the lock screen.
  6. Below the keypad, touch Emergency.
  7. Touch Emergency information twice.

From the range of phones 6 and above (e.g.moto g7, moto e6 )

To set up your emergency information:

  1. Go to Settings > System > About Phone.
  2. Touch Emergency information.
  3. Set up your information.

To view this information, a first responder or another person would:

  1. Swipe up on the lock screen.
  2. Below the keypad, touch Emergency.
  3. Touch Emergency information twice.

How to add emergency contacts to your Huawei smartphone

  1. Open Contacts, go to My card > Emergency information > ADD, and add your personal information, medical information, and emergency contacts.
  2. After adding your emergency contacts, from the lock screen, go to Emergency > Emergency information > Emergency contacts, and select an emergency contact.

How to add emergency contacts to your Samsung smartphone

  1. Open Contacts, go to My card > Emergency information > ADD, and add your personal information, medical information, and emergency contacts.
  2. After adding your emergency contacts, from the lock screen, go to Emergency > Emergency information > Emergency contacts, and select an emergency contact.
