Sprint introduces ‘Unlimited Freedom Premium’ to allow for high-quality streaming

0

Last week, Sprint introduced a new plan named “Ultimate Freedom” which gives customers unlimited data usage, with one large caveat. Those who want to stream video with the base plan would be dealing with “optimized streaming video” where the video quality would be limited to just 480p resolution.

Today, Sprint has announced an option for subscribers to remove the reigns and get high-quality streaming capabilities, Unlimited Freedom Premium. Something interesting of note is the cost. For an extra $20 per line, users will get unlimited talk, text, data, and 1080p video streaming. The reason this is interesting is when you look at the comparison between this plan and T-Mobile’s new “One” plan with its premium video streaming service attached.

As you can see from the chart above, for two lines of service, Sprint still beats T-Mobile’s new pricing by $30. That’s quite a steep jump when trying to compare what plans are the best. Of course, T-Mobile can offer a bit better network coverage, but Sprint isn’t too terribly far behind.

Now it’s up to you to decide whether it’s worth switching over to Sprint from your current carrier, or sticking with them for the long haul. Oh and by the way, if you sign up for Unlimited Freedom from Sprint between now and October 31st, you will be automatically upgraded to Unlimited Freedom Premium, without the extra $20 per month.
