After all these years, Hulu finally offers ad-free option, but not all shows are included

Hulu 12 dollar ad-free plan

After years of Hulu putting their hands to their ears and pretending like they didn’t hear customers begging for an ad-free version of their service, it’s finally happened. They’ve caved. Starting today Hulu will offer a more expensive — but mostly ad-free — option for their customers. Priced at $12 ($4 more than the normal $8 subscription), Hulu says it will give customers the TV shows they love without all the interruptions.

But therein lies the catch. Notice how they cleverly said no “interruptions” and not “commercials.” That’s because there are a handful of popular shows that still require Hulu to show ads due to streaming rights. However, these wont be in the middle of viewing like normal commercials, instead tacked onto the beginning and ends of a show for no interruptions. Here are the shows that will still show ads:

  • Grey’s Anatomy
  • Once Upon A Time
  • Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
  • Scandal
  • New Girl
  • Grimm
  • How To Get Away With Murder

Hulu says they’re still very much focused on their ad business, they’re simply listening to the number 1 customer request they’ve received for years now (gotta keep those production studios happy). To change your plan for (mostly) ad-free viewing, hit up the link down below.
