LIVE BLOG: NVIDIA Press Conference @ CES 2011

1:03: Hsun-Huang just wrapped things up! I’m going to go head over to their room for a boxed lunch and then we’ll be off to bring you live Samsung coverage! Stay tuned.

1:00 PM: NVIDIA now announcing their first personal computing processor in coordination with ARM. We’re just wondering which tablet they were supposed to be bringing out for the video calling demo.

12:55: Hsun-Huang was going to coordinate with a Skype rep to showcase video calling on a tablet. Unfortunately, the network won’t allow them to carry the demo out.

12:51: Verizon rep on stage talking about 4G LTE.

12:45: They’re showing a PS3, a PC, and the LG Optimus 2X playing a multiplayer game against each other. Amazing.

12:43: We’re not looking at Tegra 2 in action on a PC in gaming. These really do rival console graphics.

12:40: They’re still talking about how Adobe and NVIDIA have been working together on these advances, and how important flash still is to the web.

12:37: Shantanu Narayen – Adobe’s CEO – takes the stage to pat NVIDIA on the back. Kudos.

12:34: Flash on Tegra 2 devices will be 5 times faster than it is on current high-end handsets.

12:34: NVIDIA and Adobe have partnered up to create a more optimized flash experience for mobile handsets. Reduce that lag!

12:33: Hsun-Huang showing some shots of flash-enabled sites that use flash on iOS. We all know where this is going. :)

12:32: LG takes home the accolade of having the world’s first Tegra 2 and dual-core handset.

12:31: Hsun-Huang: “You guys suck!” In reference to everyone hogging all the WiFis.

12:31:

12:30: Hsun-Huang says “let’s go to something with flash.” Take that, Apple!

12:29: And now we’re streaming 1080p video. It looks amazing. The Tegra 2 processor is really showing its worth in how snappy things are moving.

12:28: 2X has an 8 megapixel camera. He’s showing some nice looking photos off on the HDTV.

12:26: Just ran the classic Angry Birds demo. Play, read, write, watch, and do anything over HDMI.

12:25: Looks like HDMI might not be limited to video: the lockscreen was on the big screen!

12:25: They’re about to do some demos!

12:22: 2X said to have console quality gaming, and can output 1080p video over HDMI.

12:21: The 2X is a beauty on the outside, and a monster on the inside. I like it, Jung!

12:20: LG Optimus 2X being introduced by LG’s Vice President, Mr. Jung.

12:19: Hsen-Huang says they’re introducing a new category with superphones – I thought that was Google?

12:18: Hsen-Huang on stage giving his keynote.

12:17: Focusing on one particular category in this conference: the superphone.

12:15: Tegra 2 announcements will be sprinkled throughout the week. Cars, tablets, and phones.

12:13 PM: Better web, better gaming, better experiences – all mobile, say Hsun-Huang.

12:10 PM:

12:08 PM:

12:04 PM: NVIDIA’s Jen Hsun-Huang – president, co-founder, and CEO – is the man on the stage, by the way.

12:03 PM: They’ve started! NVIDIA’s introduction is what you’d expect: talking about the scope of the industry and how things have changed over time.

NVIDIA’s got a lot of hardware partners using their Tegra 2 processors in countless Android products this year, so considering themagnitude of the event (for us), we’re going to be hosting a live blog of their press conference at CES 2011. Things kick off at 12pm Pacific / 3pm Eastern, so be sure to get that F5 button ready once that time rolls around.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  2. I find it funny how long tegra2 has been around and how its finally catching on. I’m not complaining though because its really good tech, and its going to save nvidia from going bankrupt as they start selling less and less discrete video cards.

  18. THATS IT?

  19. Nvidia going bankrupt? What? I haven’t been over to the phones section yet…stuck in stereos (kind of my business). Anything truly exciting over there? Finally coming out with a replacement for the Iphone? You know the Iphone is losing its grip when it will be offered by T-Mobile and Verizon. Sooner or later it will be sold on the discount websites such as Buys and Deals.

But, the reality is how much more can a phone really do?

  20. THE NOTION INK ADAM IS VERY SOON TO BE OUTDATED DUE TO ALL THE DUAL CORE TABLETS COMING OUT THIS YEAR. SORRY
