Qualcomm has been working on its latest mid-range processor, the Snapdragon 660, and is ready to unveil it for the world to see. Qualcomm has started to send press invitations for an event which will be held on May 9th in Beijing.

Obviously, there isn’t as much excitement around this excitement as there is for smartphone launches. However, considering this processor may power some of your favorite mid-range devices in the future, it’s worth mentioning.

The Snapdragon 660 will be an octa-core processor and uses the same hardware as the Snapdragon 835, which will power many 2017 flagships. The big difference is the manufacturing process for the SD600 is the fact that it’s built on a 14nm process, versus that 10nm process found on the SD835.

Some of the devices rumored to be including the Snapdragon 660 include the Nokia 7, Xiaomi Mi Max 2, Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2, and Samsung’s first dual-camera smartphone. We’ll be sure to bring you more information regarding this latest mid-range processor once it’s made available.
