Xiaomi Mi 5 press renders leak showing various colors, iPhone-like design

0

Xiaomi has never been too shy about taking their design cues from Apple, and the launch of the Mi 5 may be no different. Recently leaked renders show the device in clear form, and, well, it looks like an iPhone. There are some nice differences, such as a 2.5D curved glass display and what appears to be a glass backing, but that camera, home button and earpiece look all too familiar.

That aside, it can live on its own merits thanks to some very nice internals. Rumors suggest we’re getting 4GB of RAM, 1080p or QHD resolution, a Snapdragon 820 chipset, 16GB or 64GB of storage, 3,030 mAh battery, 16MP rear camera, 8MP front camera and a fingerprint scanner. Sounds like a potential 2016 flagship to us.

All of that is said to be going for around $309 once it reaches retail, and if the fees to import it aren’t too extreme this could be a potential sleeper for 2016. It appears you’ll be able to get the phone in black, white, gold or pink, which is a nice assortment for those who are picky about that stuff.

Of course, going with Xiaomi means you’ll have to put up with MIUI, which looks beautiful but opts to forego Google services for something more… acceptable in China.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.
