Google Store now showing October 22nd ship date for the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P could arrive as soon as October 13th

Google wasn’t ready to give us exact shipping time frames for the latest Nexus phones when they went up for pre-sale, but things are getting a bit more clear. The Nexus 5X is now showing a ship date of October 22nd in the Google Store. Its original shipping window was set at 3-4 weeks so this lines up quite nicely with Google’s earlier expectations.

What does this mean? Firstly, it’s important to remember that the date may only apply to orders placed now. Orders placed ahead of this change may or may not be out on this date — we just don’t know yet. The best thing you can do is keep an eye out on your own order status. Some folks are seeing estimates that their devices may ship 1-3 days sooner, but at the same it’s possible a day one order might not ship until after October 22nd. Regardless, it’s nice to have a solid date to start building expectations around.

In related news, new rumors suggest Nexus 6P devices could be out of the door as soon as October 13th. Sprint is reportedly issuing memos that the device will launch October 26th, though it’ll be possible to activate a Nexus 6P on October 14th. Having a device activation system ready on a certain date doesn’t necessarily confirm the device will be available on that date, but it sure does add some strong legs to the claims made by a supposed insider on Reddit that the device will ship October 13th (whose account has since been removed for some reason).

Throughout all this, though, it’s important to remember that expectations and rumors are not to be taken as gospel. Things happen and things change, so don’t be surprised if the aforementioned dates come and go without you having your shiny new Nexus on your doorstep. That said, I think it’s pretty safe to say that most folks who pre-ordered the phone by now can expect to have it before the November arrives.
