Newly ordered Nexus 4 handsets already shipping

42

Google’s notoriously hard to come by Nexus 4 went back on sale through the Play Store yesterday with an estimated shipping time of one to two weeks. Today, folks who placed their orders as the handset became available are already receiving shipping notifications.

As the manifest above shows, the 16GB Nexus 4 is ready to ship. [EDIT: 8GB models are shipping as well. Thanks, Adam!] We haven’t confirmed if 8GB models are also ready to ship. Stock issues seemed to affect both models about equally, but we can’t be certain of Google’s current supply. What we can be certain of is that Google has already started the process of shipping new purchases, so many should be seeing their brand new Nexus 4 by the end of the week. How’s that for a turnaround?

[Thanks, Justin!]

  1. if I only lived in a strong GSM area…

    1. Right? T-Mobile would be the best compatible carrier around me and their speeds top out at 6mbps here…Pathetic compared to the 30 Verizon gets.

      1. What do you work for verizon or something? Verizon’s closest plan to T-Mobile’s is 100 a month. T-mobile’s is 60

        1. Far from it, I’m a mechanic. I was talking about data speeds. Never once mentioned cost. I can afford Verizon so the speed is a bigger deal to me than the price. Tmobile would be nice to save a little cash, but their reception is terrible here and the speeds are slow compared to AT&T and Verizon. I’ve been hoping T-Mobile gets their LTE up for awhile now.

          1. I get an average of 12mbps on T-Mobile in Denver.

          2. Oh, and that’s on HSPA+ 42 with my Nexus 4.

          3. That’s not bad. I actually want to switch to T-Mobile when my contract ends this year. Hopefully we at least get speeds like that when I do.

          4. By the end of the year, T-Mobile might have LTE in your area.

          5. Where at? I’m in Broomfield and have been thinking about jumping to T-Mobile and I have no idea what kind of speeds to expect.

          6. phones make a big difference too….with lte on gnex i wasnt even getting 0.5 mbps up or down, switched to note 2 and i;m blazing (???) 6 down and 2 up. tmobile / gnex combo was better than lte / gnex,

      2. Verizon 4G from my office in Indianapolis, IN this morning: 2850 kbps down, 2002 kbps up. Normally, I get around 6-7 mbps down in the area when I am driving around and the Max I have seen is 14 mbps. Advertising does not live up to real world experience. If I got 6 mbps from a contract free phone for the $30 per month pay as you go special from T-Mobile, I would be OK with it.

        1. I get 30mbps down and 15-20 up where I live on Verizon LTE.

  2. I received the same email this morning

  3. Ordered a 16 as soon as the site allowed and no shipping notice yet. :/

  4. They still seem to be having some communication issues. When I made my order it said they would not charge until they shipped. I have not yet received shipping notification, but I was charged today so I have to assume it’s being shipped.

    1. That happened to me too.

      -written on my Nexus 4.

  5. Just placed an order for the 16 GB phone. Not a big fan of the thought of only 16 GB of storage since I currently am using more than that in my Amaze 4G, but I can’t stand the lack of development for that phone anymore. I hate seeing all these Galaxy S3 people getting JB before me haha.

Those who have the Nexus 4, how do you rate the phone?

    1. 9 out of 10. The camera isn’t the best, and if you want to maximize memory you need to rely on Google Music, Picasa, Google Books, Google Drive, and as a supplement, Dropbox. Since T-Mobile has true unlimited data, it’s not a problem to spend so much time in the cloud. Everything else is pure perfection.

      1. Sounds great. Thanks, I can’t wait!

      2. I have to agree on the camera thing. Using flash, makes everything too bright.. I hope they have a fix in a software update.

    2. Still waiting for 32GB version here.

      1. Don’t hold your breath.

  6. I ordered mine 6 minutes before this one and no email yet.

  7. Does anyone know how good T-Mobile’s data speeds are in the St. Louis, MO area?
I’m really ready to dump Verizon and their overpriced plans but their coverage and network has been great for me.
Coming from the VZW GNex, I would love to purchase the N4.

    1. They seemed pretty quick while I was in Earth City. I was only doing general browsing/maps though so no speed tests/streaming.

      1. Thanks for the reply. If you were able to handle those tasks without a problem, then that sounds decent enough for my needs. I live around that area so that makes it even better.

        1. I had the N4 and speeds were Ok. They aren’t really great. Actually, it was slow enough for me that I went back to the S3.

          1. Thanks for your feedback, Derek! I consider myself a power user and data speeds for me using VZW’s LTE have been stellar. T-Mobile’s data coverage was a concern for me regarding the N4.

I may consider holding out for something in the next 2-3 mos.

          2. You must have been on ATT.

    1. I ordered mine around 9 am CST yesterday, and I got my shipping notification this morning before I woke up. You’ll probably get an email tomorrow.
