Verizon Equipment Guide further confirms January 26th as Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX launch date

13

Unless Verizon pulls another Galaxy Nexus and balks on an all-but-official release date, the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX will be on store shelves in less than a week. The January 26th date first outed by the RAZR MAXX landing page has been confirmed through Verizon’s internal equipment guide. The Droid RAZR with an extended battery should see its release via “all channels” come next Thursday. All signs point to a $299 pricing.

  1. Don’t know how many times I have to tell you guys, you shouldn’t be covering anything but the release of the Galaxy Note/Journal on VZW.  That phone is the only reason I am coming to this site right now.  I WANT THAT PHONE!

So yes, scour the interwebs, man the phones to VZW and Samsung night and day until we get an official “yay” or “nay”.

I was within minutes of clicking on the purchase button for a nexus, and then the Note (which had been all but guaranteed not to happen on VZW) story broke.  So now I am stuck farting around on this ancient DX knowing I can get a Nexus but trying to hold off for a Note.  (I am an impatient guy)

    1. use google talk on your laptop, your laptop is about the same size….:)

      1. I’m a big guy with big hands.  If I were a skinny-jeans metro type at 5′-7″ or less, the size would likely be too much for me.

  2. I feel bad for all the motorola  buyers you buy a phone and get outdated in like 2 -4 months

do yourelf a favor dont buy motorola terrible terrible UI slow freezes so much just dont deal with it

get samsung galaxy nexus stock android might not have 1.5 ghz or whatever but it is optimized and will perform much faster that motorolas and htc

i had all those phones before all garbage slow touch responsiveness galaxy nexus is by far the best and fastest phone i had and i will allways get nexus from now on stock ice cream sandwich the real android experience and i wont get outdated in 2 months and regret the phone i had bought nexus come out evrey year.

    1. >>buys samsung
      >>thinks he won’t be outdated in a month
      >>mfw

    2. I just returned my Galaxy Nexus, because the phone sucked. The speaker phone essentially was rendered useless. The imap, and pop3 emails didn’t pull properly. When switching phone calls with multiple people it didnt show you who you were talking to. No FB integration for contacts, The wifi meter didn’t work correctly. When going from 3g to 4g to wifi etc.. it would not pick up the signal efficiently.

So i went back to my droid X until this MAXX comes out. Besides the obvious speed issues, and slow ass camera, this phone has better integration on a day to day business use then the nexus did.

People always complain about motoblur, and all the apps that are installed to the phone. I have to be honest most of the BLUR makes the phone work better with the simple integration of different apps.

      1. The Galaxy Nexus is basically a dev phone. If you’re not going to install a custom ROM/Kernel on it then don’t buy it. I have one and none of the issues above are a problem.

It’s not only much more responsive, the signal picks up better, I have FB contacts, the battery life is MUCH better (1% every 2-3+ hours idle), etc..

XDA and rootzwiki has everything you need. I won’t deny that the RAZR is very impressive stock though, and the battery life on the RAZR Maxx seems almost to good to be true.

    3. Who said that the RAZR is outdated?  some people prefer a smaller/lighter phone that will last them through their day, and they’ll charge it when they go to sleep anyways.

  3. Getting one for my gf for sure. I own the Razr myself and it is very snappy compared to the Nexus & Rezound. My first thought when I saw the razr was why not make the phone a little thicker that would give it more battery life and will be better to hold in the hand…looks like VZ/Moto were thinking the same.

The screen at low brightness is very dull/yellowish but can be fixed with the color adjuster app. Very small fonts are hard to read. Camera is very poor in low light if not using flash. Apart from this the phone is just awesome. Was going to recommend the Nexus but after using the Razr for a while now, I’m convinced its a great phone and has everyone beat with the 3300mAh Maxx battery.

And people who bash the Razr, Please check out the phone first hand before making stereotypical remarks about Motorola phones though I agree their stock interface could use a facelift. ICS coming soon.

  5. I really hope this phone makes it to Canada soon (especially Bell).  My phone is on its last legs, and I’m not that sold on the Galaxy Nexus.
The regular RAZR’s battery life is too short for times I travel (as is the Nexus’s), but you can’t swap it out for a backup in your pocket…
The MAXX would mean that I probably wouldn’t even worry about not having a spare battery in my pocket!  about time smartphones got to the 24-hour usability mark with battery life.

  6. The locked bootloader is the only thing from keeping me from buying this phone.
