Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread Leaks for the Samsung Captivate

7

Though no official word has gone out on the status of the Gingerbread update for the US lineup of Galaxy S phones, a leak of not one, but two builds of the Android 2.3.3 firmware for the Samsung Captivate suggests it might not be far off. Build number UCKE3 and UCKF1 are dated May 26th and June 8th, respectively, and come courtesy of SamFirmware. These come as the first official builds of the latest version of Android for smartphones for any of the US variants of the Galaxy S, though the international model has already seen the update in some regions. When the update could become official in the States is anyone’s guess.

  5. Hopefully the official release is in the next couple weeks. My GF is going to be home from americorps for a couple days at the end of the month, and it’d be great if I could update her phone while she was home.

Or they could just do an OTA update this time.

  6. Hey at least Sammy shuts up and gets on with it. So many companies just yapping away. All big talk.

Still flipping pissed at HTC being pure lazy. No one else is going to get another HTC product in our household.

  7. Wait, a sec.  I just remembered.  This is on AT&T.

    Samsung: 2.3.3 is ready!
AT&T: okay, we’ll test it for our network.
Samsung: okay, we’ll be back in one quarter of a galactic turn to check on your progress.
