TELUS Motorola Milestone to Receive Android 2.2 Froyo Next Week

16

Earlier in the week we saw the first batch of Motorola Milestones begin to receive Android 2.2 Froyo when the update went live in Europe. We also learned Canadian carrier TELUS would be bringing the same OS upgrade to their Milestone in the near future. We now have a more specific time frame in which to expect Froyo in the Great White North. Motorola Canada has made a post their Facebook page promising the update for next with a download link to follow as soon as it was available. With the update already available in other regions it would a shame if it were delayed.

  1. Wow, they might actually get an update that is not quite yet a year behind.

  2. This gives you an idea how fast the Bell Atrix will be updated ….. pass

  3. Fucking finally!

  4. Better late than never. I’m running 2.1 now. But what I really need is a Motorola Milestone 3 or Milestone Bionic. How about it, Telus?

  5. Make sure it’s not the same buggy one that is being rolled out in the uk.

  6. dang, i wanted this phone when it came out. its barely getting updates? sad.

  7. Dear Motorola,

I’ve been running G.O.T.’s OpenRecovery and Froyo 2.2.1 mod for about 5 months now. You’re also about 18 months late with this update (please see DROID). That’s ok though. I hear HTC and Samsung make some wonderful devices. Eff you very much.

    Sincerely,

    Me Ted and his Milestone

  8. @.Fred Warner why would you buy another phone you cannot upgrade?
If you bought something with an unlocked bootloader you would never have to be behind. I have 2.3.3 on my OG droid.

  9. I’m on Telus and the Samsung Galaxy S got 2.2 in December. And I thought Samsung was slack in giving out updates.

  10. heads up if you KNOW how to flash…and your with telus flash 2.1 Thai version …it’s frequencies are the same…then go to Motorola website and do and update via usb cable like they ask and it will recognize your phone as thai not telus and start updating…since telus takes forever and the thai is released froyo…cheers

  11. The milestone is so very disappointing. Its worse than the 2.1 and my milestone is less enjoyable than ever. The 2.2 update is a joke and its not even the full update. Even with the atrix and bionic releasing I will go to htc for the better mobile experience. This moto experience reminds me of the razr I used to have.

  12. Rooted mine 3months ago and put on nadlbak’s cyanogenmod for milestone. Huge improvement. He’s already got beta releases of Gingerbread in the works. Thanks for nothing Motorola.

  13. I hope this update will brick my phone… so I can get a new phone for free.. My milestones got too many scratches..

  14. I hate how people are so quick to trash Moto and say how long it takes them to bring updates when they do not realize that they aren’t the only ones (Take for example, HTC[though not as much], Samsung, Sony Ericsson, etc.). Yes, Moto has been very slow with the update, but so is everybody else.

With that said, this doesn’t excite me as I have been running 2.3.3 on my Telus Milestone for weeks.

  15. Motorola = Retarded. Not buying from them again.

  16. Did the update, buggy piece of crap software, tragic. bought a nexus s WOW thats an Android phone!!!!
