@evleaks has come through again, spoiling Android manufacturer’s best kept secrets. This time he’s providing us with some images of what appears to be an LG promo vid showing off the upcoming LG G2. This device will be the follow up to last year’s stellar LG Optimus G and while we can’t tell much from the blurry video shots, it appears as if LG has repositioned the volume controls to the back of the device, making for a very interesting (and different) design. You’ll also notice a rear facing LED notification ring, which would only come in handy if one were to lay the phone face down.
The front of the G2 looks like it’s almost all-display, with only an LG logo centered along the bottom which reminds us of the the HTC One. It’s not a huge deal, but let’s hope LG hasn’t opted for any weird button placement, we’ve grown quite fond of the traditional Android layout through the years. Looking over these pics, what do you guys think?

i chose android over iOS, to be different, this really helps with that. just pretended that my GS3 has a volume rocker in the back…i dont think it would bother me. Also i do put my phone face down sometimes, rear notification LED would help…#innovation

They are supposedly dropping the Optimus brand for high-end devices.
No, ur obviously confused it was the G2X. And the T-Mobile G2.
There have been two HTC G2 phones. One based on the Desire Z (T-Mobile G2), the other based on the HTC Hero (G2 Touch).
There were 2 that were called G2 in store. And I was being more sarcastic and making fun of the names because REVS is right, the name is overused.

It is an interesting thing, but I don’t think so. While I like some of the neat things with LG’s skin, it is really ugly and unintuitive. And a phone that is so thin that some, if not all of the primary controls are on the back? I really don’t know what I feel about that…
Weird, LG’s skin is one of my favorites. Stock Android > Sense 5 > LG UI > TouchWiz
This is my order: TouchWiz (as much as I can’t believe I’m saying this, I do infact love TouchWiz now… flashing a ROM on my phone without TouchWiz just feels strange now) > Stock Android > XPERIA UI (whatever it is called, is that it’s name?) >= Optimus UI (I believe that is the name of LG’s UI), >>>>>>>>> Sense 5. I loathe Sense. It is absolutely awful. I have never used an interface with so many oddities. It is the most awkward interface ever. And LG just copies TouchWiz, although recently you can definitely tell that they’ve been adding their own uniqueness to it.

And old LG, yes. Copied TouchWiz, who copied iOS. Things are different since ICS though, they’ve definitely come into their own. Have you played with the new LG UI?
yush to both of those questions. I’ll answer the second one first. They’ve definitely changed a bunch of stuff since the olden days, but the basic look, and almost entire feature set is the same as TouchWiz. Though, I have to say that my favorite thing on the LG UI, that I LOVE above all other UI’s, is that totally neat bubble effect when unlocking your phone. It is so simple, but sometimes I’m most impressed by the simplest things.
Now the first question. I just really hate Sense, and HTC. The One is a nice device, but that doesn’t change my perception of HTC. A long while back, I tried to root and flash a ROM onto my friends HTC Incrediblee S. And it just would not cooperate. Since then, I have never trusted HTC, even though I know that their developer support is much better now. On top of it all, the older versions of sense were ugly as hell, and so clunky that just using the phone made me want to huck it at a wall. And while it is definitely a lot speedier today, there are just certain things I can’t get over. Like the scrolling up and down, instead of left and right in the app drawer. And the lack of a proper multitasking button (or proper button layout in general). Or the inability to remove blink feed. And other things.
And yes. Indeed I have. But, in recent months, as I’ve decided what I want to do in the future, I have become much less “in love” with Sammy. In fact, to me they are just about any other phone manufacturer now. I’m much more in love with my own designs and my plans for my future company, Nova.

Back buttons definitely make sense. It’s easier to hold the phone that way and try to hit the shutter instead of opting for a weird side press or trying to hit the onscreen button while barely having a hold on your phone.
I’d love to see this in person that’s for sure.
Might look decent if it didn’t have those giant + and – on the buttons. Why are those necessary?
could you imagine trying to click a small button on the back without looking at it lol, easier to hit, that might be why.
Exactly. You’re not going to be looking at it… and you know the top button will be volume up and the bottom button will be volume down. It looks incredibly stupid and cheap with them on there…
Yeah, they should do a different icon… maybe like the Disqus vote buttons. The + and – look silly.
just playing with my note II in hand, if the dimensions are anywhere near the note’s the volume placement could be an annoying problem.
to me it’s only missing one thing – front facing speakers. This needs to become a norm – you wouldn’t buy a PC with speakers on the back, but many people now use our phones for media as much, if not more than our PC’s
otherwise, it could surely be a stellar device in the making.
I remember the notification light on my T-Mobile G1. It never caught on for some reason, but is pretty handy when you have the volume down.

Could prove interesting the big question will it be released in the EU? The last LG one was not and buying them with the US 4G would not work here in the UK.
those volume buttons on the back are more likely to be zoom buttons for camera. Who said they are volume buttons?
Its different but I don’t care for it much. Its not a big deal to use a volume rocker on the side of the phone.. To me at least. And whoever thought it would be a camera zoom… No way! So many people would complain about the awkwardness of it. Nice looking front side. Its innovation but doubt it would make the phone a hit.
