OUYA CEO Julie Uhrman sent out an email today — the first of a weekly emails sent to early backers of the Android mini-console — letting them know that unit shipments are continuing on schedule with production cranking out round the clock, even changing up some partners in the process to shave days off the shipping time. Julie even provided a handy chart to better illustrate the shipping timelines:
As you can plainly see, Julie is promising about a quarter of all shipments will be delivered before the end of the month, with 100% hitting backers by the end of May. While only a little over a month away, the end of May sounds like a long time, especially when that aging Tegra 3 processor ain’t getting any younger. We can only hope that developers have found unimaginable ways to optimize the processor thanks to the benefit of uniform hardware. Still, I think I might hold off for the Tegra 4 version. As long as this thing runs an emulator half decent, I don’t care what chip is in it.
Im in the same boat. As long as it streams with xbmc at 1080p and plays my old games im good. Cant wait to get the old controller to usb adapters and play with my old controllers again!
The email specifically says shipped, not delivered. That probably means many people will still be waiting for delivery in June.
Thank you! That’s what gets to me. The OUYA backers who shelled out cash for a console may not even receive theirs before it reaches stores. Priorities are most certainly not in order (despite the obvious pressures set by retail release and development).
Luckily they don’t have different colors.
Pebble seem to have just done with black and theres the backers vs paid preorders issue.
Should all preorders be touched on only after all colors are done for the backers or should preorders be by color as well, that sort of thing.
The Ouya has pre-orders as well. And back then they promised shipping early pre-orders in May.
Actually pre ordered ouya according to phandroid are suppose to start this month, backers end of march and retail os suppose to hit june.. Don’t let me down again phandroid… U guys dropped the ball with the whole matrix one tablet fiasco i hope this isn’t misinformation like that was… Not that im complaining about waiting bit dangit i want MY OUYA!!!!!
Backer OUYAs *started* shipping on March 28th. They stretched that release date out to May 25th — to ship, mind you, not to be received. That means the people who ordered them first will still not get them before they hit retail. Petty argument for some but there should have been a more realistic expectation set.
Agreed but it’s still good that were not being left in the dark and know there trying to push all shipments out…. I couldn’t take something like that again like I did with the matrix one tablets
So what happens to the ouya customers who preordered the console? The word we were supposed be getting our consoles in April.. Umm… Its already gonna be mid April and no updates, emails anything regarding that. Some of us didn’t have the chance to back the console, when i heard of it they were already taking pre orders so.. Whats going on here?
To Chavez: a question for you? (Not related to Ouya but similar) Have you heard about the iMpulse gaming controller or when will they ship? I know you backed the project like me so I was wondering if you have any info. about when they might ship it?
This thing has taken altogether too long to come to market.
Will it run MAME?
take notes google :)
Can this thing run psx, N64, NES, etc emulators? If it can I’m definitely getting one.
If the Nexus 4 can run it, then this will. It’s basically the same thing.
This is incorrect, the Nexus 4’s APQ8064 is a lot faster than the Tegra 3. The Tegra 3 should still be able to run the emulators smoothly though
More like a tegra 3 on steroids, you have to take into account the fact adding a fan to that bad boy gives more room for overclocking the cpu to truly suck the potential juice out of this puppy so no, it definitely is right up there with the nexus 4 probly even faster tegra 4 is a whole nother ball park
it is too late. it will be a dead-born product! why? because all new sony xperia device are now fully compatible with playstation gamepad without any rooted device. So, any sony android device (tablet, smartphone 2012 and 2013) are a video game console now !
I’d still like a designated Android powered game console, not another tablet or phone, which I already have. It wont be a xbox/PS killer, but a good cheaper option for the casual gamer
Yea. I don’t want to HAVE to get an Xperia device. I was thinking the same thing. I would love to play that Dungeon Defender 4 game on this.
Arcane Legends is what I’m hooked on right now.
Thank you, I can’t understand how so many people cut down Ouya by saying that they can get their phone to double as a console. My galaxy s3 is first and foremost a phone. I don’t want to have to get up and go disconnect my phone to take a call or answer a text.
up to I looked at the bank draft which had said $7642, I did
not believe that my mom in-law was truley making money part time from there new
laptop.. there dads buddy started doing this for only about 6 months and just
now took care of the loans on there mini mansion and bourt a great Lotus Elan.
I went here, kep2.comCHECK IT OUT
