Instagram is now optimized for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5

The problem with foldable phones that can transform into tablets is that not all apps will necessarily play nice with the larger display and aspect ratio. This means that even if you own a phone like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, some of your apps might end up looking a little strange.

The good news is that if you are an avid Instagram user, you might be pleased to learn that in the latest update to the app, it appears that the company has finally created a brand new UI that has been optimized for foldables like the Galaxy Z Fold 5.

The navigation cluster, which is typically on the bottom of the app, has now been shifted to the side, giving users an easier way of pressing the buttons while holding the device completely open. The new UI also takes advantage of the larger display by showing larger photos and videos, making it more pleasant to look at.

In a way it’s kind of ironic. Many have been asking Instagram to release an app specifically for tablets, but the company has shied away from doing so. Instagram’s head Adam Mosseri said back in 2022 that apparently there isn’t a big enough group of people to warrant prioritizing it, but here we are in 2023 where Instagram is now optimizing their app for foldables.
