June 2022 Update Arrives for Galaxy S21 FE Carrier Variants

0

A new update has finally arrived for carrier-locked versions of Samsung’s Galaxy S21 FE handset, which comes with the latest June 2022 software patch. The update is now available for users in the United States and brings some fixes for security and stability issues.

The new update comes with software version number G990USQU3CVF1, and follows the software patch released for European variants of the S21 FE. Launched earlier this year, the S21 FE comes with a 6.4-inch AMOLED display and runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 chipset. In our original review of the device, we referred to it as a “budget flagship conundrum,” lacking the same appeal as the S20 FE that came out before it, especially given the S21 FE’s price-to-spec ratio.

In related news, there have also been reports that Samsung might introduce a more affordable variant of the S21 FE, which will forego the 5G connectivity and instead be limited to 4G data speeds. It’s also expected to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 720G processor.

Additionally, there’s also been some speculation that the S21 FE might be the last of its line from Samsung, as the company might have canceled production of the Galaxy S22 FE. Typically, the company’s FE handsets – short for “Fan Edition” – were aimed at giving consumers flagship phone experiences at relatively affordable prices.
