Vivo’s next flagship phone could support 200W fast charging

0

The batteries on our phones these days aren’t necessarily getting bigger, and with our phones becoming more powerful, cameras becoming more capable and so on, battery life is definitely not as good as it was back in the feature phone day.

To make up for this, companies are offering alternatives in the form of fast charging, where instead of bigger batteries, phones will just charge faster so if you need to top up mid-day, you can in a matter of minutes. That being said, it seems that Vivo could be working on a new flagship phone that will apparently pack a 200W fast charger.

We’ve already seen phones in the market that support fast charging as fast as 120W, allowing it to get from 0-100% in less than 30 minutes. With a 200W charger, it seems that it could take half the time, where apparently it will be capable of hitting 100% in mere minutes. Xiaomi has already showed off its own 200W charger which can fully charge a phone in 8 minutes, so we imagine that Vivo’s solution should be pretty close.

According to the information by Digital Chat Station on Weibo, this 200W charger will also be backwards compatible with 120W, 80W, and 65W phones. This means that if you need to charge another device that doesn’t support 200W charging speeds, not to worry as you can still use the charger safely.

There’s no word on when Vivo is expected to debut their new handset, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for it.
