Our smartphones pack some pretty powerful camera hardware, but if there’s one problem with our phones is that it’s not particularly ergonomic when taking photos. This is versus digital cameras like DSLRs or mirrorless cameras where they typically come with a grip that makes it easier to hold the camera to snap photos.
The good news is that if you’re looking to level up your smartphone photography, the folks over at ShiftCam have announced SnapGrip. This is the company’s latest accessory that will basically put a DSLR-like grip on your phone so that you can hold your phone in a more ergonomic way when you’re trying to shoot videos or photos.
The grip itself also features a built-in wireless shutter button which means that not only does it let you hold your phone like a DSLR, but you can snap photos the same way. The best part is that it mounts to your phone using a magnet, which is perfect if you’re an iPhone user with an iPhone that comes with MagSafe, but if you’re an Android user, don’t worry because there are third-party cases that bring MagSafe functionality to your Android device. Alternatively, ShiftCam is also including a magnetic ring that you can use as well.
The SnapGrip can also double up as a battery which means that not only can you use it as a camera grip, but you can use it as a spare backup battery in case your phone runs low. ShiftCam is launching the SnapGrip over on Kickstarter, so if you’re keen on supporting the project, head on over to its Kickstarter page for the details.
