Amazon introduces all-new lineup of Echo Show smart displays

0

Amazon has announced three new Echo Show smart displays, with the Echo Show 5 and Echo Show 8 seeing some minor upgrades while adding the Echo Show 5 Kids to the lineup. This comes just a few months after the new and improved Echo Show 10 was introduced with some pretty interesting features.

The biggest update to the Show 5 and Show 8 are the cameras, as we now have a 2MP front camera in Show 5, providing a minor upgrade over the 1MP sensor used in the last generation. From a design standpoint, you would have a tough time trying to find any differences between the new version and this upgraded version. Perhaps even more surprising is Amazon’s decision to change up the pricing, as the Echo Show 5 will now only set you back $85 while being available in three different colors.

Moving onto the larger Echo Show 8, Amazon has provided a much-needed improvement in the camera department. The Show 8 now sports the same 13MP sensor that was introduced with the Echo Show 10. The camera features a 110-degree field of view while upgrading its processor to the MediaTek 8183. While the Show 8 won’t follow you around like its bigger brother, Amazon has packed some Computer Vision technology to try and keep you in the frame with the wide-angle sensor. Unlike the Echo Show 5, the price and color options remain unchanged, as the Show 8 can be had for $129.

Rounding out the bunch is the newest addition to Amazon’s Echo lineup of products in the Amazon Echo Show 5 Kids. It should come as no surprise that Amazon finally added a Kids Edition to its smart display lineup, especially considering that we’ve had the Echo Dot Kids for years now. The Show 5 Kids includes the same 2MP sensor as the upgraded Show 5, but Amazon instead is including one year of Amazon Kids+. This provides a two-year warranty along with plenty of kid-friendly content such as books, TV shows, and movies. The Echo Show 5 Kids Edition is priced at just $95.

If you’ve been wanting to upgrade your Echo Show or have just been waiting to get in on the action, now’s your time to jump. All three Echo Show products are available for pre-order starting today, and all three will begin shipping in June.
