New renders show off the upcoming Galaxy S21 FE

A surprising addition to Samsung’s vast lineup of devices launched in 2020 was the Galaxy S20 FE (Fan Edition). The device wowed many by providing almost all of the same features as the standard Galaxy S20 line, while cutting enough corners to bring the cost down to something more manageable.

After seeing the popularity of the S20 FE, it appears that Samsung is gearing up to do the same thing in 2021 with the Galaxy S21 FE. OnLeaks has shared a series of renders of the supposed Galaxy S21 FE, along with sharing some of the key specs that we can expect to see.

First and foremost, it seems that the Galaxy S21 FE will keep the “glasstic” material that we have seen in other Samsung handsets. The design itself is practically a mirror image of the Galaxy S21, save for the camera module. OnLeaks states that unlike the camera bump on the S21, which is an extension of the metal frame, the S21 FE’s camera module will extend from the rear panel.

On the front, we’ll have a 6.4-inch display, which is actually 0.2-inches larger than that of the Galaxy S21. But you’ll still find the single punch-hole cutout at the top for the selfie camera. As for dimensions, the slightly-larger display also means that will transfer into a slightly-larger size altogether. The S21 FE will feature measurements of 155.7 x 74.5 x 7.9mm, which is 4mm taller and 3.3mm wider than the S21, while retaining the same 7.9mm of thickness.

Going back to that camera bump, we’ll have a triple camera setup, with an LED flash installed to the right of the cameras. However, we don’t know the specifics as to what camera sensors will actually be, but we can expect to see some downgraded sensors to help keep the cost low.

What will be interesting to see is where the Galaxy S21 FE is priced at. The Galaxy S21 family continues to see discounts and deals, despite the device being currently available for its retail price of $799.99 through Amazon. It would be surprising to see the S21 FE come in at around $700, considering that’s where the discounts usually drop the S21 to.
