Yesterday saw the announcement of the OnePlus Watch, and now one of OnePlus’ competitors, Amazfit, has announced a new smartwatch of its own. The Amazfit T-Rex Pro isn’t a dinosaur, but it has the ruggedness and fitness tracking features that you expect from one of the best smartwatches.

Amazfit T-Rex Review

As the name suggests, the T-Rex Pro is an upgraded version of the Amazfit T-Rex that launched back in 2020. This time around, Amazfit upgraded many of the features that its users were hoping for, including better water resistance, an improved heart rate monitor, and even blood oxygen monitoring.

The T-Rex Pro is chock-full of sensors and features to keep track of all of your activities, while also being rugged and durable enough to withstand the daily grind, or if you want to go for a hike. There are more than 100 different sports modes that can be tracked by the T-Rex Pro, while recording various pieces of data including heart rate changes, speed, calories burned, and more.

Those who enjoy keeping track of their hiking or running trails will enjoy the high-precision GPS onboard. If you want to go for a swim, you won’t have to worry about leaving the T-Rex Pro behind thanks to the 10 ATM water resistance rating, making this smartwatch a fantastic companion at depths up to 100 meters.

In addition to the BioTracker 2 PPG sensor for 24-hour heart rate monitoring, the T-Rex Pro also makes use of the PAI Health Assessment System. This takes all of the data accumulated from your workouts and the different built-in sensors to provide a unique and “easy-to-understand” personalized health score. Then, you’ll be provided with some feedback on what you could do to make sure you reach your goals.

One of the most intriguing aspects of the new Amazfit T-Rex Pro is its battery life. The company states that the T-Rex Pro will last for up to 18 days on a single charge with light to normal usage. That goes down to nine days with heavy usage, and down to 40 hours if you are continuously using the GPS sensors for tracking. Then, you can plug in the T-Rex Pro and get back up to 100% in just an hour and a half.
