Of course Squaretrade thinks the Galaxy S8 is the most fragile phone ever

0

We’ve seen a fair share of Samsung Galaxy S8 torture tests by now. Some show the phone whimpering at the mere sight of concrete, while some show that it could hold up in lucky scenarios.

But if you were to go by Squaretrade’s assessment alone, you’d be left to believe that the Samsung Galaxy S8 is a nightmare device to own. Their own drop tests show the device cracking on every single drop from every single angle, a first for their own history of tests, they say. And don’t let them get started on those arbitrary repairability scores warning that the phone may be nex to impossible to get fixed for cheap.

Before you cower in fear, though, you should know that this is Squaretrade, a company which feeds off the consumers’ biggest fear of their electronics breaking. They want to sell you insurance, and the best way to do that is to extoll the fragility of the most popular devices out there.

They won’t tell you about all the other tests showing how surprisingly durable the phone is when it’s not being slammed into a slab of concrete at ridiculous force by a machine designed to do just that.

That’s not to say that you shouldn’t get insurance or be careful with your phone. You really should. But don’t let this video scare you away from the phone altogether.
