Nokia could have 2 high-end smartphones with Android Nougat and Snapdragon 820 on the way

We haven’t yet known much about the smartphones HMD and Foxconn will be designing and manufacturing for Nokia, but one reputable source is helping paint the first of a very nice picture. NokiaPowerUser reports that Nokia has 2 high-end Android devices in the works.

The devices will feature metal, water-tight bodies which continue the Nokia tradition of offering durable and quality smartphones, apparently. That we didn’t have any doubts on. But it’s the other stuff that has us intrigued.

Nokia will supposedly use Snapdragon 820 chipsets in both devices, and will look to have Android Nougat on them out of the box. We weren’t sure if the company would go the Nokia X route and skimp on specs, but if this report is accurate then it sounds like Nokia wants to position itself as a top player in the Android game.

Beyond that, the devices are said to vary a bit in display size, with 5.2 inches and 5.5 inches being the expectations. While we aren’t sure on exact display tech just yet, the possibility of OLED with a combination of Quad HD resolution seems likely. Finally, the devices will sport some serious camera hardware, and that’s something we won’t doubt as Nokia has made a point of excelling in that area in recent years.

Unfortunately, the “when” in all this is still unclear. A rumored unveiling is said to happen before 2016 expires, however it’s possible we may not hear anything about the company’s plans until the calendar turns. We’ll just have to hope it’s sooner rather than later.
