Not even 2 weeks after launch, the Sony Xperia X gets a price cut in the US

Think someone in Sony’s board rooms woke up and realized just how overpriced their latest mobile products are? Not even 2 weeks after its launch in the US, the Sony Xperia X is seeing a decent price cut.

Amazon, Best Buy, and B&H Photo all have the devices cut down by $50, which brings it down to $500. It’s not yet clear if this is a temporary discount or a permanent price reduction. Either way, we seldom see deals for phones this soon after launch, and clearly Sony is doing some gauging to see if they could be at a sweeter price point for the American public to give them some business.

Unfortunately, we’re still not sure if a $500 Xperia X — with its middling specs and uninspired features — is worth the money. It feels more like a $400 phone at first glance, and we imagine Sony won’t be seeing a ton of interest until they’re closer to that point. But if you’re that big of a Sony fan and have $500 to spare, get in on the deal before the price goes back up.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.
