Last month we debuted our Best Cheap Android Phones list as a companion to the Best Android Phone rankings. This list is a great resource for anyone who doesn’t want to spend an arm and a leg on a new phone. Affordable mid-range devices made a big splash in 2015, and they are already making waves in 2016. The list is just a little over one month old, but we already have a new king.

Fresh off of our full review, the honor 5X has moved into a first-place tie with the Moto G 2015. Why the tie? The Moto G and honor 5X don’t seem to have a lot in common on the surface. In fact, they are almost nothing alike. However, they both offer great bang for your buck. The true #1 will depend on what you look for in a phone.

The honor 5X has killer hardware for a device that costs $200. It looks beautiful, is built incredibly well, and has high-end features like a fingerprint sensor. The problem is it lacks in two very important areas: software and performance. The Moto G is the exact opposite. It leaves a lot to be desired in terms of hardware, but the software and performance are great for such a cheap phone.

Check out our full list to find the top 10 best cheap Android phones available right now! Which device would you give the edge to be the lone #1 device? Are you more concerned with hardware or performance?

Ever since I flipped open my first phone I've been obsessed with the devices. I've dabbled in other platforms, but Android is where I feel most at home.
