HTC “Perfume” flagship leaked, could launch with Android 6.1 and HTC Sense 8

HTC always has a new device in the works, so it’s not surprising to hear that they’re working on something. This particular rumor tells of a device with the name “Perfume.” Aside from the fact that it’d be one of the weirdest retail names we’ve ever seen (which makes us hope it’s just an internal codename), there isn’t much to gather in the early going.

One detail that the leakster (LlabTooFer, who is a solid source) revealed is that it’s definitely a flagship, it’d launch with Android 6.1, and that it’ll have an updated version of HTC Sense — known as Sense 8 — on top. This is the first time we’ve heard of Android 6.1 on a device, and we’re not surprised HTC wants to make sure their device has the absolute latest version of Android when it launches as they made a big deal out of that being the case for the HTC One A9.

The most recent rumor is that HTC will look to use a Snapdragon 820 inside their next flagship, and that it could have up to 4GB of RAM, but if the HTC One M9 debacle has taught us anything, it taught us that it’s not a good idea to get your expectations heightened on rumors alone. We’ll have to await further details to roll in before we know what, exactly, is ahead.
