It’s been almost a week to the day that T-Mobile announced their brand new Video Calling feature would be rolling out to the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. It looks like that time is now, with both devices gaining access to the new feature via an over-the-air software update that starts rolling out today.

The Galaxy S6 gets a bump to version G920TUVU2DOH6 (Android 5.1.1), while the S6 Edge will jump to G925TUVU2DOH6 (Android 5.1.1) both with Video Calling, Advanced Messaging, and apps like Dropbox and Google Wallet coming along for the ride. There was also something about “Work Profile/Device Owner,” so be on the look out for that. While both the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus already debuted with T-Mobile’s new Video Calling feature, they’re also receiving small updates (S6 Edge Plus here and Note 5 here) to the fix up some of the UI (we’re sure other bug fixes as well).

Video Calling is a new feature for T-Mobile devices that allows users on network to video chat much the same way you would make a voice call. There’s no extra apps to install or any accounts to create — just open the regular dialer app and you’ll see a video icon should you actually want to see the person on the other end. It’s all pretty seamless too, with T-Mobile being able to convert the call to a regular voice call should you wind up in an area with poor data connection.

Check for the updates by opening the Settings app and selecting About device > Software update. Good luck!

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.
