Good news HTC One M8 owners! HTC Product Manger Mo Versi has announced that starting tomorrow, the unlocked models of the HTC One M8 will begin receiving HTC’s Android 4.4.4 update which includes their all new EYE Experience.
This is the same updated camera app that will come out of the box on the HTC Desire EYE, HTC’s upcoming smartphone with dual 13MP rear and front facing cameras. If you want a taste of what to expect, check out the video explaining some of the new features below.
While this leaves out carrier specific models of the HTC One M8, Versi did mention that the T-Mobile version will likely see the update before November 7th, but he wouldn’t commit to an official date until we get a little closer to then. As far as everyone else, just keep your fingers crossed. This should be the final KitKat update until HTC makes the transition on over to Android L in the coming months. Can you feel the excitement?

I wonder what happened to HTC skipping 4.4.4, incorporating all the security updates into 4.4.3, and going straight to Android L?
We did get the security updates in 4.4.3. This is really about the EYE experience. Funny, I never really thought of my M8 as a camera phone; I guess HTC wants to change that.
But the point is HTC said they were skipping 4.4.4
Assume this: Eye Experience was developed on 4.4.4. And tagged along for the ride pretty much because of that. That is the easy logical explanation.
Never ever heard they were skipping anything. I’ve had 4.4.4 on my ONE GPE for several months.
I’m assuming that it will also be available for all Google Play Experience M8’s.
Unlocked means that we have unlocked bootloader? When update for locked bootloader?
No sir, it means that anyone that bought the M8 directly from htc without an assigned carrier can get the update because their phone was /is unlocked from the factory.
Ok, thanks. How can i see is my phone locked to some carrier? Have secret code?
