Fourth.
Hi,
I am a college sophomore – well, was – I dropped out of college to work for the Android start-up Locket for a year. I have been fascinated with Glass since its inception, and have tried multiple times to try to get it (#ifihadglass contest, asking for an invite from the previous batch, etc.) and would love to get the chance to buy it and develop for it. Besides development, I would love to actually use Glass for what it is, since I am new to San Francisco, the navigation and ability to take photos on a whim would be really awesome.
Thanks for your consideration :)

Funny this is, if you had just entered a short comment quickly instead of that whole story, you probably would have won.
I already had it typed up. I just refreshed and pasted it in. There’s always someone faster than you.

You have the sexiest hair, Chris.
It looks like a wet dog died on my head. -_-
That’s simply not true, you look like a younger, sexier Elvis. :P
Well then. :D
Black haired version of Johnny Bravo…. minus the muscles….. sorry :-p
This was a great post!
Was this the only comment “on the post”? All other were comments but not about the post.
Ha ha had to try, Congrats whoever wins!
Jesus. The coloring on that front facing camera is terrible. HTC One was hands down the worst low-light performer, though. All in all, it’s a usable camera on the N5, but it’s not nearly as nice as its distant cousin, the G2, by any stretch of the imagination. But hey, $350-400 is nothing to shake a stick at with this performance.
dat hair
Was that Momo on the pic holding the cola?
Yeah, ha.
Is the Photos Editor literally Snapseed or is there a need for me to still install it separately form the Play Store? I am a huge Snapseed fan and run any photos I am going to post (twitter, instagram, etc) through it first.
Most of their issues are software related. Any AOSP like ROM shows that.
Congratulations Eri Fujimoto. Way To Go!!! Do me a favor. Send me some cool photos and videos from your Glass.
the G2 shits all over the Nexus 5
Splatter style
Well that’s $603 vs $399. lol Isn’t it pretty obvious?
Google promised a “killer” camera and is advertising the Nexus as having a “killer” camera. This is not “killer.” This is “decent for the price.”
And it’s clear that the 8MP Sony sensor they chose plus OIS should produce VASTLY superior photos – to what we’re seeing. That is the same sensor that is used in the MEMS camera – a camera that relies on having an ULTRA-FAST sensor.
IOW – this is probably 95% a problem of careless software. The stock Android camera has always delivered worse photos than any of the OEM cameras and we’re seeing it in spades on this device.
This is the same company that makes self-driving cars. Why can’t they get some geniuses to write a world-class camera app?!? This is a SOFTWARE problem – c’mon Google, get it fixed!
…annnnd one of the main reasons I ditched my N4 for an iphone 5S.
Didn’t realize that a phone needed to be a DSLR camera. Also didn’t realize a $300 phone had to perform as well as a $900 phone. We Android lovers are sorry (not really).
Sorry but I have to agree with @donpiggletiff:disqus on this one.
As for the DSLR comment: every photographer knows that the best cameras are the ones you have with you. I’m not a pro but I depend on my phone to be my walkaround camera: you just can’t take a DSLR everywhere you go.
As for the cost: look, the camera has been Android’s Achille’s heel. With Android you have this huge ecosystem of devices, each competing on features; while on the iOS side there is only one device; and on Windows there is a tiny handful of marginalized devices.
AAAAND yet, for YEARS, both the iOS “ecosystem of one” and Windows ecosystem produce phones with superior cameras to the entire Android ecosystem.
The latest generation of Androids has finally caught up with (though hasn’t significantly surpassed) iPhone. Meanwhile Google has said it is a priority to give the Nexus phones “killer” cameras, and they’ve sold the Nexus 5 as having a “killer” camera.
They are not delivering “killer.” They’re delivering “decent for the price.” That’s not the same.
C’mon Google. You can make a SELF DRIVING CAR FFS. Hire a few damn propellerheads and GET IT DONE ALREADY.
Don’t take it personally. The camera is important to that guy, and iPhones have always had spectacular cameras. Fair enough.
Sadly disappointing that Google didn’t go all out and produce a real contender for top-smartphone honors. The camera takes terrible pictures for a high-performance phone, and the speaker placement/quality is just laughable, along with the undersized non-replaceable battery. I guess I’ll have to settle for being happy I bought the Nexus 4 (also a disappointment) while on sale and didn’t hold out for the Nexus 5. Maybe next time Google will finally get it right. Low cost and quick updates aren’t everything.
“Why 2 options? Because Google, that’s why.”
Keeping it entertaining. Gotta love Chris.
IMO G2 FTW
Put the toilet seat down. It’s bad feng shui.
I know this is lame, but…
Can you please tell me if is there any online store selling that awesome Pikachu action figure?
It would be great.
Thank you anyway.
Got it at McDonalds >.<
Please, please, please :(
Great camera review, thanks!
