New leak shows HTC One in black

69

It’s starting to look like HTC was smart to sign a cross-licensing deal to keep Apple off of their backs for  hill, because, I’m just going to say it, the upcoming One/M7 looks an awful lot like the iPhone 5. Here she is in yet another leak showcasing the phone’s black color scheme (it should also be available in a silver/white look).

We get a small glimpse of HTC Sense 5.0, which looks nothing like the iPhone’s iOS, but not much else. Anybody curious to see what HTC did around the back of this device in terms of design?

The phone’s display shows a location of New York and a date of February 19th. The leaked render of the white variant was localized to London. Both cities will host a duel event that is all but confirmed to be the HTC One’s coming out party.

  1. I’d say more so Z10

    1. combination of them both most definitely because even people are saying or said the z10 looks like an iphone 5

      1. Apparently you all have forgotten that this style was pioneered by the Droid X. I thought I was on “Phandroid.com?”

    2. To be fair, HTC did a version of this design, on their Evo 4G LTE (matte black top bezel)

  2. The speakers on the top and bottom of the phone will turn into a nice left and right speaker when watching streaming Video. Wish my Galaxy Note 2 had them. Samsung should take note and add this feature to the Galaxy S5.

    1. Samsung started this trend on their tablets, so it will only be a matter of time before they implement them on their phones.

    2. My old Xperia Play had dual speakers. Music was a joy to listen to.

  3. Love it. It looks like a quality piece of hardware.

    1. except it’s still plasticy and brittle as hell.

      1. Brittle? Was it made from 1960s plastic technology?

      2. Maybe. But I’m an adult and I know how to take care of my things.

      3. I guess you missed their teaser saying it is 75% metal…

  4. What’s with the home button on the right? Seriously?!

    1. Better yet, what’s with the HTC logo in the middle and the missing multitask button?

      1. They might have the home button act as a multitask button as well if you hold it. Maybe even gestures. It’s really not a big deal. It bothers me when people say, “it’s a fail” or I’m skipping this because the buttons are switched around. Yes, it can be an annoyance, but a really really minor one that you may even forget about.

      2. Maybe the HTC logo does something.
We’ll just have to wait :)

    2. hey at least the derp whiners won’t complain it is a VZW logo. true story.

    3. This one little stupid detail might be enough for me to skip it.

  5. Hideous software keys, they could’ve just made the home button the htc logo and actually given it a reason to be there.

    1. yeah damn skinning that you can’t change easily after you get the phone.

      1. Can’t change those, unless I’m mistaken the render above shows hardware buttons.

  6. One = Apple and Win8 love child.

  7. The only good thing I see here are front facing speakers.
    That’s it.
It’s looks like the love child of iPhone and BB Z10.

    1. People said the same thing about the EVO 4G, and a handful of other Android phones. Wait til you see it from the side and back. HTC is amazing when it comes to phone designs — they don’t bite, they innovate.

      1. Doesn’t rhyme! So disappointing… Next time go with “They don’t wait, they innovate.”
        ^_^
I personally love the designs HTC comes up with, except this one just looks too much like the Z10 and the iPhone 5 IMO. Not the worst looking, but should have made the bezel smaller/same color to lose the Z10 look.

        1. Hahaha.. Those are some pretty good lyrical skills. And yeah, I see the resemblance of the Z10, but it’s not like they saw the Z10 a few weeks ago and started making a phone to match. This stuff takes time.

So far, I like the look. I just need to see the back :)

    2. I didn’t realize that so many companies copied the Droid X.

  8. Is it me or does it seem like a lot of people are copying Windows Metro UI?

    1. HTC just wants to pay fines, if not one way then another.

    2. That isn’t a metro ui look alike, that’s just a bunch of widgets on one screen.

  9. It looks like the back of iPhone5.
The BB Z10 looks like the back of iPhone5 too.

If the dev community backs it and if the hardware is open enough for many many builds of Cyanogenmod, then it will look attractive to me :P

  10. Attack of the big bezel and chin.

  11. Is that HTC logo a capacitive-touch button?

  12. I can almost guarantee where it reads HTC on the bottom at&t will replace it with………….at&t.

    1. screw at&t!

      1. I doubt at&t would put “screw at&t” on their phone. ;-P

    2. i think you’re thinking of Verizon…

  13. Am I the only one who thinks this phone is really ugly….?

    1. nope, I do too, but it seems we might be the only ones -,-

  14. Please HTC, can you finally make the damn battery symbol cyan?

  15. Nothing but hate i like it looks nice will take a look at when it comes out wife upgrade is March

  16. It does look like a rectangle. Everyone knows Apple invented those, so sure, it looks like an iPhone 5. Every smartphone looks like an iPhone in different colors, if it doesn’t have a keyboard.

  17. I think its mostly ugly, especially the white- mostly because of the speaker grills. We will have to wait and see.

  18. what do you suggest they do to make it look different? all smart phones look the same, get over it

    1. I thought it looked rather nice. *shrugs* :T

  19. ALWAYS BET ON BLACK. O_O

    -Wesley Snipes in Passenger 57

    1. Once you go black….wait what?

  20. It looks like another well-built device from HTC… a reason why I still like their devices

  21. Chris, I totally agree with you on the looks of the phone. I think it looks pretty sweet. Everyone complains and cry about HTC. I think they make great phones all around. Sure, the battery could be better with most of them, but still great phones. Im wondering what the battery will be on this. And love the 32 and 64 options. It could be a good year for them if they market it

    1. I’m pretty stoked about this phone. All I want is speed, great display, and awesome camera. With those 3 things, I’m happy.

  22. I am a huge fan of htc but I am not feeling this at all.

  23. Goodbye Htc!!! You had good run. Hello Xperia Z XD

  24. I love HTC phones it looks awesome.

  25. My best friend s sister makes about $50 on the street corner. And she’s not bragging about out on Phandroid. Most likely it’s because she’s a dirty pig

  26. It is a a beauty. And no plastic. Trust me on this.

    1. it really looks awesome!

[well, almost]edge-to-edge display (WHICH IS STILL POSSIBLE, because we see a simulated screen image + hardware design) will make it brilliant.

      And battery!!!
2,500mAh would be enough to say HTC EVOLVES with its 4.7″ Full HD One!
3,000mAh HTC One isn’t possible, because the earlier leaks suggested “very thin design”;)

      4.8″ SAMSUNG S3: 2,100mAh.
4.7″ Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX: 3,000mAh.
      4″ iphone 5: 1,440mAh.

  27. Nice phone. HTC usually makes phones that feel good in the hand. This phone and the Optimus Pro G with a 5.5 inch screen are the only phones I’m looking for.

  28. am i the only one who hates APPLE software but Love the design of the iphone 5. A 4.7 inch screen thats probably going to have the best screen this year, on a Apple design that run android with dual speakers powered by Dre Beats, ok battery, htc sense, at least 32 gb, with 2 gb of Ram, quad core s4 pro. Can i say in my opinion the best phone of the year, aye who dont agree can kiss ma A$$

  29. What if this is some kind of crazy Half iPhone half android monster, and this IS the back of the Apple/HTC iPhone One 5s.

  30. great screen size (more than 4.7 is a stretcher for me), hopefully comes with a biiiiggg battery

  31. Looks pretty basic from this angle. Have to see the sides and back. I’ll admit HTC makes some good looking phones (also some bad ones) that are nice to hold. But actually using them is the challenge. They can’t seem to make reliable software. Sense is always buggy and laggy. And their notification icons are beginning to seriously be a joke. STILL with the green battery, even after all the sense updates???

  32. I disagree completely, it looks nothing, absolutely nothing like the horrid iPhone 5. Why say it looks like it? because its a rectangle ? or is it because its black ? It makes the iphone 5 look like an old 2005 flip phone.

  33. To me this looks like an iPhone 5 knockoff with the metal bezel.

  34. looks like an iphone 5, with a windows gui, but an android. weird.

  35. love how they put the speakers on the top and the bottom. I bet this will increase the audio experience

  36. Those speakers look great. The speaker on the Nexus is my only bugbear, if you leave it screen up a soft surface like the couch then the speaker is almost completely muted. I guess this phone would have the same problem face down but then face down you probably want it muted.

  37. Really cant wait for the announcement on this tomorrow, will be nice to get the concrete facts about this. Really looking forward to seeing if HTC have actually put a decent battery in this thing.

  38. I see it’s not exactly a unique design but I still like how it looks.

  39. Anyone noticed that the UI on this looks the same as the UI as the “leaked” samsung smart watch?
