Nexus 4 wireless charging orb now available for $60

34

If you’ve been waiting for the wireless charging orb for the Nexus 4 to hit the Google Play Store, today is your lucky day. El Goog has finally listed the accessory in the Google Play Store, and you can walk away with it for just $60. With it, you’ll be able to prop your Nexus 4 up in horizontal or vertical orientation and have your device charge just as effectively as it would via USB.

There’s not much else to the thing aside from its ability to charge your phone and make it look good at the same time, but the convenience of being able to plop your phone down without having to fiddle around with flimsy USB connections is a treat.

You’ll be getting a nice charging flow of 5 volts and 1 amp, enough to get you from 0% to 100% in just about four hours — hey, no one ever said it was the most efficient charger ever. The device ships in less than one week so get over to the Play Store and order one before we end up with the reincarnation of the Nexus 4 debacle.

[Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

No love for Android, Nike? FuelBand app not in the works

  1. Too expensive for my blood…

    1. Agreed. Over $70 with taxes and shipping to Ohio. Looks nice though.

      1. Is there still only UPS two day shipping and no other options? That was kind of annoying when buying the LG Bumper.
Either way this costs too much to just charge my phone.

  2. I might be tempted if I had a N4 and access to hardware in the Playstore :(

    1. move.

      1. No ty, I like it here…..if the play store features something I really want I’ll just import it (like the Nexus One back in the days)

  3. that’s a hot ball.

  4. how big is the battery if it takes 4 hours to charge at 1.0 A?

    1. The Nexus 4 battery is 2100mah

  5. “…and have your device charge just as effectively as it would via USB”

“…enough to get you from 0% to 100% in just about four hours — hey, no one ever said it was the most efficient charger ever.”

What you know about contradicting yourself?

    1. LOL! In that first statement, I was really just talking about the end result of the charging and not the time it takes to charge. I should have made that more clear.

    2. USB is 5v/500ma max. So this is better than USB.

      1. Dude, look at the pictures of the rear of the device – it’s powered by a MicroUSB. Wait… Would hooking this up to a 2 AMP MicroUSB charge any faster?

  6. Its awesome that the nexus 4 has battery reborn widget on the screen. Its a legit app.

  7. So this might not be a big deal, but remember, wireless charging is *hugely* inefficient. The output is 5 Vdc 1 Amp, but it takes almost twice that for input, 5 Vdc 1.8 Amp. No one should be plugging this into the back of their computer, USB is only expected to source 5 Vdc 0.5 Amp, and while many computers can support as high as 1 Amp, I’ve never seen a USB port that can source 2 Amps.

    1. I feel like it’d be doing something bad to my brain if I had that thing next to my bed. Anyways, I’m not paying $60 for another way to do the exact same thing.

    2. there are plenty of USB wall adapters that give you a 2 amp USB port. Also, my dad’s desktop has 4 red USB ports on the back of it that the users manual said were 2 AMP USB 2.0 ports

  8. Got it. First time having a wireless charger, so I’m kinda excited, and now that Moto Flipstand I bought a while back can be my stand for work :)

  9. Yay ordered!

  10. Got 2 with my tax return! Blam!

  11. It says not available at this time; is it cause im in canada

  12. This should have been available on day one. Google needs to get it together when it comes to official accessories. Still waiting on the Smart Cover for my Nexus 10.

  13. Yo imagine if the geniuses at Google made an LTE Nexus 4 available instead of this dumb crap so the other half the US population could get one.

    1. Imagine Verizon leaving their evil mitts off of Android so that could happen.

    2. Not everyone depends on LTE like you, this “major” problem that you people like to complain about hasn’t stopped the Nexus 4 from selling out.

    3. Imagine if some geniuses got off of Verizon and Sprint instead of complaining constantly then the other half of the US population could get one.

  14. Looks pretty nice, but it’s pretty expensive for an immobile charger/dock.

  15. Will this work with a droid DNA?

  16. Hell yeah. Now I can get the N4, bumper, and this in one order at the end of the month. It’s pricey, but the phone is cheap, so all in all still cheaper than buying a Samsung. Here’s hoping everything is still in stock come March.

  17. whats the point of getting this is your phone has not even shipped yet.

  18. Ryan Stewart = wizard of wrong. “micro usb is. 5 amp” lol NO! It depends on the charger and device.

  19. Recycled Nexus Q Parts? O_o

  20. $39.99 sounds like a better price.
