Official: AT&T to launch HTC One X on May 6 for $199.99, pre-orders being April 22

After much speculation, AT&T has come clean with the release details of their version of the HTC One X. The phone, which features a dual-core Snapdragon S4 chipset instead of the Tegra 3 CPU found in the international version, will be available May 6th at a price of $199.99 on a two-year contract.  Rumors have jumped back and forth between that date and April 22nd, but it turns out both will hold somewhat true as pre-orders of the device will begin on that date.

The HTC One X on AT&T is an LTE device featuring Android 4.0, Sense 4, and Beats Audio technology. It sports a 4.7-inch 720p HD display and 8MP camera coupled with hardware and software that maximizes photo output. Check out the full press release at the link below.

  1. HOLD UP!!!!! Anybody notice the black one on their launch page?

That kind of sucks.  At least we have an official date, but I was really looking forward to getting this phone next week.

(Although $200 and not $250 or $300 is good news)

    1. it’s grey like the rest.

      1. That’s what I meant.  The reason I was pointing it out was because from what was out, it looked like AT&T would only be seeing a white one.

    2. I noticed it looks slightly smaller which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

      1. I think that is just the way the picture was taken.

  2. Any word on price with no contract?

    1. probably 550. Unless they do a larger than average subsidy.

    2. $550.  AT&T emailed me back.

  3. i’m glad they didn’t go for a $300 price point like Big Red does with their flagships

  4. Kinda wish they kept the egg shaped capsule packaging. Looking forward to this release, hopefully the black one is available

  5. One thing they are doing right (if my impressions are correct) is that they are launching two colors AT THE SAME TIME. Maybe other OEMs and carriers will grasp on to such a novel approach.

    1. Every AT&T rep I have contacted does not know if both colors are coming at the same time.  There has been no hard proof.

      1. Hence why I said “if my impressions are correct.”

        1. Haha I was just letting you know because I’ve mad a bunch of phone calls to try to find out either way with no luck.

          1. Both at the same time. I called AT&T customer service.

  6. Now time for T-Mobile S pricing

  7. I’m sure AT&T wanted to sell it at 249 – 299, but Sprint announced the Evo 4G LTE (an arguably better phone imo) at 199.
    Another point for competition.

    1.  Sprint version is slightly better though due to expandable memory (via sd card) + bigger battery.

      1. It’s an EVO, of course it’s going to be better than AT&T’s offerings. ;)

    1. They need to kill that MIR and just do straight up $199w/2yr. (Not that I’m planning on wasting my upgrade on this phone.)

      1. Agree!

  8. Dam…pre-orders start April22 and the u guys can get it May 6th. Sprint is starting pre-orders in May so that means i will not get one till June! Dam u sprint, letting At&t get it first!

  9. I could live with the battery, but not the memory. 16gb is a joke. I really hope this is not a trend, but non-removable memory seems to be becoming more and more standard.

    1. They do it for consistent experience and performance. SD cards have a major impact on your phone’s performance.

    2. I wish it had an expandable MicroSD slot as well but the AT&T version is coming with 32gb not 16gb.

      1. I’m sorry, but where are you seeing this information? On HTC’s page devoted specifically to AT&T’s version of the One X, it states that it has “16 GB onboard storage.” http://www.htc.com/us/products/htconex-att#tech-specs

  10. Very nice…bucking the trend of flagship phones being $299!!! This is a really great deal for this phone. I still wish it had an expandable microSD slot but you can’t have it all I guess.

    1. 299 is more of a verizon thing. Other than the note, AT&T doesn’t do that often.

  11. I guarantee if sprint didnt choose $199 for their one x then at&t would have gone with the $299 price point

    1. Maybe Colton, one of the few odd things about AT&T and probably do to the monthly cost usually doesn’t charge much for their devices.  As far as the net cost per phone, that is directly tied to the iphone’s $199.

  12. It is the iphone’s fault. Lol. Non removable battery is the new trend.

  13. my friend’s mother earned $14545 the prior month. she been making cash on the internet and moved in a $416600 condo. All she did was get fortunate and put into work the directions explained on this website… http://onlinemoneycampaign.blogspot.in/
